good move by Philly

resigning Dawkins would go against their policy of not resigning players on the other side of 30
There are exceptions, Runyan is one. Can't say for certain, but I think Dawkins will be another. He's the unquestionable leader of the defense and has approached his contract situation perfectly. Safeties also have a longer shelf life than other defensive positions.

We'll have to see. I think the common perception of the Eagles as cheap is overblown, but there is some basis to it. For every player they neglect to resign, they resign another (usually the young ones). And I can't remember the last time they actually cut someone because his contract was to large. Atleast they uphold their end of contracts, if a player is cut it's because they stunk it up or they wanted out.

There's your positive eagle fan perspective for the day.

Quickly just wanted to add that the Eagles don't really have a successor lined up for Dawk, which indicates they atleast intend on resigning him. If they had drafted a 1st day safety this year or last, Dawk's chances wouldn't look good. But the only safety they drafted recently was Considine in round 4, who I don't think is looked at as Dawks successor. Many Eagles fans think the backup plan is to move Sheldon Brown to FS if Dawk is not resigned, but that's pure speculation.

He can air his concerns, and I am sure he did. But the GM and owner make the decisions. Just because he likes a player doesn't mean the team keeps them. I am pretty sure he would have liked to have kept Taylor and/or Vincent and not had young corners at both positions.
Why can't I stay away from this thread? Haha, just wanted to add some info on Taylor and Vincent. From what I remember of rumors at that time, the Eagles tried to resign Taylor but offered Vincent nothing. Taylor was actually still relatively young at the time he left. Perhaps ironically, the player I think they should have resigned is Vincent, who was always a consumate (sp?) team player leader and technician. Rumors were that the contract Taylor accepted in Seattle was only a smidgen larger than the contract Philly was offering. In the end, he never saw much of that contract... and I don't think he'd be welcome in Philly even with a vet min salary. I'd love to see Vincent in Philly some day, in a coaching or mentoring role.

I watched Andrews at Arkansas. He is a beast! He had an unfortunate injury his first year, but he's gonna be tough to handle. I'd take him in Dallas in a heartbeat...
