Vegas lines are money driven but they also can tell you something about a game based on how they expect people to bet.

Frankly, I am bit surprised the line was ony 3.5 given two weeks ago we got smashed by them. Even with the Seattle loss, I figured maybe 4.5-5............. 3.5 would normally be an Eagles line. But given we got hammered by them and now they are basically a pick em on a neutral field............... it will be interesting to see if and how much this line moves. We opened at 3-3.5 on Thanksgiving and the line even moved a tad in our favor.

Plus other factors are in our favor - revenge, 6-0 on the road, teams typically play crappy the week after playing Seattle.

Keys to beating Philly:

1. Tackle well. No missed tackles
2. Contain McCoy. Stay in your gaps
3. Hit Sanchez again and again and again and again even after he releases the ball.
4. Play man and be physical with receivers. This is a 'precision' offense so if we throw the receiver off their route or affect their timing, it throws everything off
5. No special team scores allowed.

Simple :D

Pretty much the blueprint for how we won their last year 17-3.

Dallas can win this game because I think there is dip in morale for Eagles as they are coming to terms with realization they are not in the same league as Green Bay and Seattle. Its a winnable game for Dallas but they need to attack that secondary.

One thing is to be less predictable on offense. I love that we run the ball on first down but in this game, you gotta mix it up. Eagles will sell out early to stop the run like they did in the first game. Pride aside, it's simply not smart to keep running right into that run D.

I agree. The betting line is based on the money but you can get an idea of whose betting what although it is not a big deal to go on. A few people bet huge negates thousands betting small so you can't base it on 'one dollar=one vote'. But the smart money tends to flow to the 'right' side of the equation. Mostly....

I quit betting on the NFL many years ago because you can't win consistently. I don't gamble at all anymore. I'd put the Eagles at 5 1/2 if I were booking. I think we beat them but the game has too many variables. IF we win TOP, get Sc% around 50-60, and don't turn the ball over AS WELL as rattle Sanchez and limit both run and pass to 275 or less then we should win. Left out limit big plays to about 4 with less than 50% scoring ones BTW.

But that's a successful formula for beating lots of team.

Agreed. When I think unstoppable, I think of an Aaron Rodger's led Green Bay offense, not one that scores 14 points (including 7 on a gifted short field) and produces 139 total yards. LOL. This Eagles team makes me want to puke with their overratedness.

The same Aaron Rodgers led offense that scored 7 against the Lions and 16 against Seattle? And looked horrible against a very bad Saints defense? They also looked shaky against Miami and Minnesota.

No offense is unstoppable.

This was the set line. The direction the line takes now will indicate which way the masses believe the game is going to go.

I don't look enough to know but it doesn't surprise me this is 'one' of the set lines or what I'd call the early line. Bookies change the line often every day at times sometimes as often as every 20-30 minutes. They all have their own line but by and large they are generally pretty close.

Exactly. All this tells us is that more people think the Eagles are going to win.

Not necessarily - what it tells us is Vegas isn't so sure and wants to see where the money goes before moving the line up or down. 3.5 is very surprising right now. Forget network pundits, always follow the Vegas money to see who they like.

I'm with you man. I 'm just tired of the Aaron Rodgers love. Look he's a phenomenal QB no doubt but people on here and the national media act like this guy can do no wrong. He hasn't exactly been stellar in the playoffs since they won the Super Bowl. The back to back 50 pointers against the Bears and that Eagle game got everyone sucked in obviously but once the weather starts getting colder and they start playing better teams and games with something on the line it will be harder to beat teams through the air.

I just cant even stand the idea of losing twice in a three week span to Mark freaking Sanchez.

He's won 1 game since that Super Bowl 4 seasons ago. And that was against the Vikings when they had to turn to Joe Webb at the last second. Niners have owned him.

But I guess winning a Super Bowl gets you a free pass. Because I really heard little criticism for going 15-1 and getting dominated by the Giants in the divisional round.

I took the unstoppable statement as sarcasm, but maybe I'm wrong. I do agree we would play better as underdogs....not that we need more motivation. I'm more worried about their defense than our offense. Hopefully just the few days rest off a late night took it out of our o-lineman, else Logan and Cox had nothing to back down from what they said. I have a feeling we'll make them eat words this time!
