Eagles open to trading Murray

And you are wrong about the OL. They owe as much to Murray as the other way around.

DMC's best year last season is not as good as Murray's so called bad year.

Same OL.

They owe Demarco Murray nothing. They just turned Darren Freaking McFadden into a top back in the game once he took over. I would bet McFadden out rushed everyone besides maybe Gurley once he took over...all of this with no passing game to speak of. McFadden would be out of the NFL if Dallas didn't sign him but instead he had one of his best years of his bust worthy career.

And no it so not the same OL. Murray didn't have Martin in the "bad year" you are speaking of.

I like Murray, I wouldn't mind seeing him back but in five years, this OL will still be dominant while Murray is out of the league. They owe Murray nothing. They were all blue chip first round picks...Does Martin, Fred and Tyron owe that to Murray too?

Well first off if Jerry wanted Murray back, he could probably swing a deal that would favor the cowboys.
but.....
1.Do the Jones boys want him back? are they mad at him?
2.Does JG, Romo,Linehan want him back?
3.Does the new eagle coach not want him back?
4.Does Murray want to come back to Dallas ?
5. If Murray wants all his G money why is he saying he is unhappy and wants out of philly??
Would it not be better to just be quiet and collect the checks?

I doubt this will happen, it is similar to the AP deal last year. Unless the player is willing to give up G money or big salary,
he will have to stay with the current team.

2015 was a rest year for Murray he would be healthy and ready to go, and you know what you get with him.
With him and McF, would be a good combination, and Dallas would have their run game back.
But we just have to wait and see, but it is doubtful.

Man would that be awkward if Murray came back. Wonder how the locker room would feel about it. The guy basically left and betrayed our team (going to our biggest rival) for some extra cash. I know athletes should try to get the most money for them and their families but Murray doing what he did last offseason was just such a dumb decision. I know it's overused but the saying "money can't buy happiness" pretty much sums up the whole situation.

This is a situation where the Eagles should just give teams permission to negotiate with him as if he were a FA. Let him get a sense of market value, and then see if he wants to negotiate down his own deal to the point where the cap hit in PHI is manageable in order to get out of there. It sounds like he's really unhappy.

He should have taken the money in Dallas. It was the best spot for him in the entire league. And we were already offering more than he was worth to the market.

The difference was in the guaranteed money............Dallas was only guaranteeing around $10 million while Philly was guaranteeing $20 million.

I aint going to lie, I would have took the more guaranteed money as well..........RBs have a short shelf life in the NFL, so you got to grab as much money while you can. So I don't have any hard feelings toward Murray, I would have taken the money as well.

We could have made up the difference with the money given to Gachcar, Cassell, Brinkley, 4 no name RB's, and a few other horrible players. I keep hearing it was too much money, but how much did they waste on the dumb contracts. One of the biggest mistakes in 20 years. It hurt the chemistry of the team and damaged the trust between the players and he brass!!!

He was the reigning AP Offensive POY, the league leader in rushing and was a 27 year old FA.

He had much more than 1 good year. He had 5700 yards and 29 TDs for DAL in 4 years. His "bad" year in 2014 is still better than McFadden's best year that everyone here is going crazy for.

His misuse in PHI is not indicative of his ability. Kelly took him solely to hurt DAL and it worked in that regard. His style was perfect for this team. We just low-balled him.

Who called 2015 his bad year?

Also studies show that rbs peak at 27 and there is a precipitous fall off afterwards.

Restructure the salary...

Bring him back....

Make me happy....

Win the Super Bowl....

The End

good post, says it all.

Martn's bad year.......that's pretty humorous.

In 2014 Murray broke two long standing records held by Hall of Famers and was the leading rusher in the NFL.but it was the offensive line that was responsible for those yards, not that "average" back.

But this year McFadden gets over a thousand yards, along with six other guys and he's a "top" back.

H'es especially deadly in the 2nd half whenever the Cowboys are down by 10 or more points. While the opponent defense is mopping their stadium with the Cowboy's replacement quarterback, McFadden is dazzling us with 9.7 yards a carry.....only demonstrating just how little the opponent cares about the the Cowboys running the ball at that point in the game.

The rest of the way Mc Fadden is a pedestrian 4.3.

He received 60% of the number of carries Murray had in 2014 but only 24% of the TD's. "Top" RB's score more than 3 times in a season.....perhaps that was due to Martin's bad year.

IF...Murray is willing to renegotiate his contract down to about 4.5 a season....

IF....the Cowboys don't have to give up anything higher than a 6th round pick in 2017....

Perhaps it's worth looking at. He knows the team, the system, it might provide a boost of morale and hope.

If you are going to take a risk, don't take it on someone planning their next four game vacation. Take it on someone who has already demonstrated the attributes of "the right kind of player", has a record of productivity in your system and is unlikely to make the wrong kind of headlines.

By the way, the belief that NFL RB's burn out after a season similar to Murray's 2014 year is a complete and total myth, a pathetic misuse of data by someone way too proud of the C- they got in "Statistics For Journalists".

Well look at the bright side. He gets two seasons of rest (very little use,) and by year 3 when they can cut him without a major cap hit, he will be fresh and we can scoop him up somewhere above the vet min.

One of the best decisions in 20 years. You don't pay franchise RB money to a RB like Murray who isn't a franchise RB. He was good but not that good. Every player in the Cowboy locker room would have seen that and held their hand out wanting to be overpaid and would have been mad when it didn't happen.

I think you are making it much more dramatic than needs be.

So you are telling me that every player in the locker room would be in awe that the OPOY got a lot of money and would then become disgruntled?

I don't think most players see things you described. In most of their minds, they see he earned it. He had a historic spectacular season that was impressive. He got the awards and accolades. He had the numbers. Those are what players look at. Just see how they react to a simple joke of a Pro Bowl appearance if you don't believe that.

It is the contracts for players that have not earned it, or the players in decline that raise eyebrows and start a line at the door.

And a GM would quickly point out a historic season doesn't equate to overpaying for a RB whos contract would end when he is over 30. Murray wanted franchise RB money and we were smart not to pay it.

& I can clearly see it as one of the worst negotiations by an NFL franchise since the age of prohibition. So I guess we can meet in the middle somewhere.

Let's meet at one of the worst moves ever by the franchise. Totally slayed our chances to get to the big dance before Romo goes AARP.

Cowboys were only down by multiple scores going into the fourth quarter 3 times this year. PFF ranks this offensive line the best in nearly every aspect. Stop disrespecting our offensive line because of your fascination with Demarco Murray.

As for the touchdowns? Yes Demarco Murray had a better season than McFadden. Murray also had a lot of other variables working for him that McFadden did not. Murray had a QB that was methodical in his pre snap adjustments and forced opposing defenses to respect the pass.

FWIW, if Murray only took a sixth and restructured his salary...sure he can come back. He is a better back than McFadden. I believe the Eagles would rather have him inactive for a year instead of trading him to a divisional rival...especially since it would be likely be cheaper.

On the other hand...I believe Lamar Miller along with several players in this draft have a chance to be a productive running back 3 years from now while Murray will likely be retired.

As for your last part...if you're going to call facts myths, dare to elaborate? How many backs have you dug up that have survived the "curse of 370" that the media hasn't found.

Two things that crack me up.

One, trying to compare the 2014 season Murray had when EVERYTHING went right for the Cowboys offense and then comparing the McFadden's 2015 year when things just never broke right for the Cowboys. It's impossible to compare the two. Like would Murray have run for 1800+ yards in 2014 if he didn't have Romo for 12 games?

Two, trying to downplay how good this OL is to prop up DeMarco Murray as if the OL should thank their lucky stars they had such a dominant TB in Murray to make them look better.

It's just not worth signing veteran RBs to big deals UNLESS they're true stud RBs and there's like 1 in the league, AP and even he's not worth huge money b/c of his age.

Teams are just better off drafting RBs, getting them cheap for 4yrs, then moving on UNLESS you find a stud off the bat; Gurley could possibly be a stud RB
