Eagles re-sign Sanchez

Foles was an INT machine last year and has been hurt every season he has played. His trade value isn't all that great, he certainly is not an established starting QB.

His value is not at its highest, but he's better than some of these starters in the league.

Last year was a bad year for him. But lets not forget 2013. 27 TD's 2 int. 119 QB rating. He has value.

But some team would see a starting caliber QB packaged with a ton of draft picks. It's hard to resist IMO.

Oh I agree he will be part of any trade package. He doesn't fit in Chip's system which is the whole point of the trade up.

But it's still going to be, as you said, a ton of draft picks and maybe even a player like Kendricks too to move from 20 to 6 or higher.

I think he was exposed last year. If you pressure him up the middle he floats passes off his back foot leading to picks. He has zero pocket presence.

I'm sure someone will overvalue him and maybe even pull the trigger, but IMO he is a backup within the next couple of years somewhere other than Philly no matter what happens with the trade.

So Sanchez is the guy who will teach Mariota, excellent!!!

Philly will get 6-8 wins next year. Love their moves so far.

I believe plenty of teams see him as a starter.

We keep saying the Eagles have to get in the top 6 to get Mariota. Check out the teams drafting in the top 6, look at their starting QB and tell me a few of them wouldn't want Foles and a ton of draft picks.

1. Bucs- Glennon
2. Titans- Mettenberger
3. Jags- Bortles - they don't want Foles
4. Raiders- Carr - no to Foles
5. Commanders- RG3
6. Jets- Geno Smith

I agree, I think he's going to end up being a back up. But some team will over value him and start him.

Byron Maxwell of the Seahags telling teammates he'll sign with Philthy on Tues. too(per the NFL Network)...Chipster is on a buying spree. Didn't think you guys wanted another thread on the Eagirls so I put it in this one.

Yep, he'll get another shot for sure somewhere. QBs are too hard to find. But if he was remotely good, system or no, Chip wouldn't be looking to mortgage their future to get rid of him.

I would do it if I were the Commanders. Get back all of those picks they blew on RG3.

Hard to tell what Chip is up to. I think he wants his guy and will do whatever to get him. Reminds me of last year and Jerry's fascination with Johnny Manziel. Luckily Stephen was smart enough to step in . Will the Eagles have anyone in their draft room with enough power to talk some sense into Chip?

I Think sanchez ia better than foles.

I can see the logic sort of. If you are going to hire Chip Kelly, you are doing it because of his offensive system. If you are not giving him the right players for that system, particularly at QB, what's the point?

Of course the flaw there is the smart move is to draft some lesser tier guys and develop them. But I think we are learning patience is not a Chip Kelly virtue.

I hope not. I want the Eagles to give up the farm for Mariota. It will set them back 6-7 years at least. There is no eagles Superbowl in the foreseeable future.

:igglestrophy:

Chip Kelly's offensive system can generate points, but the one thing that Kelly believes is not important, time of possesion, is what kills his team.

TOP is huge, and it played a big role in why our defense played great at times. At the NFL level, you can't expect your team to perform at high levels at the end of the game, especially the defense.

There is decades of proof that college schemes don't last in the NFL.

This is why they stunk their last 3 games. Had no legs

BTW, for those keeping score, the 'backup' QB just signed a 2 year deal worth 9 million,

Meanwhile the 'starter', Foles, I believe is scheduled to make $600K this season, his last under contract.

Foles will not play another down as an Eagle, start your Philadelphia Marcus Mariota Watch. Sanchez is the designated bridge QB until Mariota is ready.

Last thing I saw was 1&2 this year and 1&2 next year.

Washington gave up 3 No 1's and a 2 and they went 6 to 2.
Philly has to go 20 to 6 if the Jets are their partner.

I think the Jets need to up the ante. Here's the thing. If somebody else undercuts them or another team drafts Mariota, they are left with Foles who the have been trying to dump all off season. It's just insane in this day and age that a guy would throw the entire franchise in on a player who "fits" his system and I still don't get the 32 year old Frank Gore signing.

What in the world are they doing?
Same here. What gives.
Foles is not that bad. Even if they are looking at bus drivers - Foles did it better.
The RGIII type of trade should put Eagles way behind.
The JETS need Mariota more than the picks.

Here's the thing, as a back up Sanchez is fine, but 4.5 mil is a lot for a back up. Now if Chippy doesn't go after Mariotta then, eh, good for us another year of the Sanchize.

Yup.
You know he can come in a win games.

It's when you really, really need him to win.... That's when he falls on his "butt"(fumble).
It's a smart move. Stability at back up QB position while he works on getting future QB.

Only the owner.
