Eagles S C.J. Gardner Johnson traded to Texans

Yeah, but Becton came out of college as a significantly talented guy. I think he was drafted in the top 5? He was a monster, but wasn't fast enough to play tackle. He kept getting beat by speed rushers, and he kept getting significant injuries to hamper his time in the NFL. By moving him to guard where his extreme size can flourish, and lack of speed won't hurt him paid off. Green already played guard and he was a liability, and eventually benched. He was a turnstile as a guard which isn't easy. He won't beat out Steen so I'm guessing he'll be a untalented backup. Maybe they want to use him at fullback, or a 6 man front or running downs but I'm sure they have better players to do that on the roster already
Becton = Tyler Smith. Great OG, not so good OT.

Yep, the Niners appear to be in full rebuild mode....tear it down, take your lumps and make a run in two years.
I'm expecting the Niners to have a very quick retool rather than a rebuild.

I consider the "retool" to be in the mode of the Rams who cut aging expensive players and draft and utilize free agency.

In Dallas it would be a slow methodical rebuild because the resident genius here only signs the FA bums that other teams have cut

Philly has highly touted youngster Cooper DeJean ready to go at S. Has been playing both slot and S and allowed 0 TDs last season.
DeJean is not going to safety, that would be a total waste of his athleticism and it creates a void at CB for no reason. He'll stay at CB. I'd expect him to stay in the slot vs 3 WR sets. When teams are running 12 personnel he'll kick outside.

Reed Blankenship and Sydney Brown will be the safeties. Brown is the box safety, Blankenship is FS.

OK by me. I don't know Philly's personnel.

Call me crazy, but it seems the problems of losing talent, replacing talent and keeping talent seems to be an easier pill to swallow if you're fan and your team just won the super bowl.

I also can't help but think that if part of your issue is your guys are playing so well unexpectedly that you didn't think would happen so quick, well, it's just a necessary evil that you may lose some people in the off season because now your competition wants some of that talent.

I almost fell over dead when I found out what Williams is making for the Patriots now that he left his team who just won the Super Bowl...

A guy has a good great year, and now on a new team he's now your highest paid player?

Overall, I'm always more worried trying to figure out what Jerry is going to do because Jerry is Jerry the GM. If I'm an eagles fan, anyway you cut it, you've got to give Roseman some slack if you're scratching your head because he shows he kind of knows what he's doing, unlike Jerry.
