The sad thing is that I don't think he was trying to bad mouth the Cowboys. I think he got asked a question and he gave a direct, honest answer.

Probably about 90% of this board would agree with his response, so I don't think it was trash talking.

Wow, what a surprise that you would celebrate and defend Jenkins.

Just, . . . . . . . . . astonishing.

1) the second he put ink to contract with that stupid green eagle logo on it, he became a clown
2) that he knows zero about the division and chooses to take a shot, makes him a clown
3) why didn't he say it when it happened? clown

I'm not clowning around either

my God, when did fans of the cowboys become this "sheep-like" to be ok that someone from a rival team takes a shot across the bow? Who cares if we sucked on defense? I feel like going into a local bar and picking a fight with some eagles fans (I live in eagles territory)...

This. Attitude. Is. Refreshing.

This is pretty debatable.

Agreed. Teams have tape of them to go over all offseason. Monte showed how to defend them in both games we played them. The surprise factor of Chip's offense might be over. Not to mention losing their deep threat. The league always adjusts. Two years ago it was the read option.

Well we did suck at defense. The numbers aren't lying. I'm not sure why anyone would expect differently with what we had to play with.

One correction. We didn't make Ryan a scapegoat. His firing wasn't related to the players performance.

Hold up, hold up. Sean Lee and Bruce Carter are blue chip prospects. Of course they have to stay healthy...but EVERY body in the NFL is one play away from being on the sidelines...but because of the talent and youth of both of these guys...you cannot sign/draft over them? Carr was the top free agent CB 2 years ago...Claiborne was the top CB prospect coming out of the draft 2 years ago (let me also add that anyone compared to Deion is looked at as a once in a generation prospect) Scandrick is a top tier slot CB (there is no debating that). As far as Safety is concerned...well Barry Church is a solid SS. Not the best...not the worst...I would say middle of the road. FS...there is an obvious question mark there. But we spent a 3rd round pick on a kid last year...should we draft/sign over him already?

Now we get to DL. There are obvious holes to fill. But not every defense can have steak at every position. Lets just say Melton/Hatcher cancel each other out. When you consider what we actually got from Ware on the filed (not his reputaion)....it will not be hard for someone else to replicate that...in fact...I think Selvie was our best edge rusher last year. Crawford was a 3rd round pick a few years ago and was considered to be a future cornestone piece before he got hurt. So I am exicited to see him. The rest are a bunch of hungry guys that will be rotational guys...which is important in this defense.

Will it get fixed over night? No. Will it be better than last year? If it is not.....a lot of guys would have failed. I am not a fan of Jerry Jones. Cannot wait until he is no longer running this team. But the Carr's. Lee's, Carter's, Claibonres, Melton, Scandrick's of the world need to play to their contract/draft status/potential. Then you need the young guys like Crawford, Wilcox to emerge. And then you need to hit on 1 or 2 defensive players in the draft. So like EVERY team in the NFL....we have holes to plug. But this is one time where I think the defense was managed correctly this offseason. And there is enough talent on that side of the ball to not be the worst defense in the history of the NFL. If these guys don't have enough pride to not have a repeat of last year...then the culture in Dallas is as bad as I thought it was (and hoping it is not)

I remember Miami's "No-Name Defense" back in the seventies -- the first time a concept of team was highly publicized instead of hyping individuals.

Of course, you want the best players at every position, but salary caponomics prevents that these days; so that team concept should become the focus, much like last year's Seahawk defense. Jerry has resisted this philosophy, but last year's Cowboy defense has driven this point home.

Here's hoping we've learned our lessons, and get younger, hungrier, deeper, and more cohesive. I like our chances with the current coaches.

So this clown points out the obvious...congrats. The have some real rocket scientists on that team. McCoy is constantly running his mouth too. No wonder Jackson was run out on a rail. He was a dope too. Here's the thing...NO Lombardi trophies in that town. Not ONE. But hey, if all those NFC East titles get you through the night, then so be it.

.... and another thing ... shouldn't he be worried about the Deadskins and Eli? Oh no. He's all on TV pontificating about the lowly Cowboys. My, my, my. Sound like you scared to me. I'm just saying.

We're an awful defense that really needed help at Safety and we didn't give this guy a call. I'd say the love affair probably goes two ways.

Good post Z, and relates to relative life circumstances. You are only bullied if you allow yourself to be. Pick up boxing for crying sake? Learn to manage your own problem without being the victim? Too hard...big dudes are hit with the pipe in the leg:D = equal footing? Sorry if I got too DC there:D Stop being scared of folks, you are capable.

Yeah, it takes real men to pick on the weakest of the bunch. It says more about them than it does about us. We know who we are ... mediocre. My question is this ... why are we a threat to these people? Just the mere mention of the star drives these people over the deep end. It's absolutely insane to me. We should be like the Cleveland Browns to these people. We must make them insecure. Why? I don't know. We just play the game ... we didn't invent it.

Though he might be correct about our D, he should not be proud of going to a highly dysfunctional team that was an also-ran last season.

Where I come from you half to match physical abilities with verbage. So far he be good at moufing off. that's all.
Let us see how well he do under game conditions and with a team that is not getting better, just treading on 8-8 like us.

And whoever called him a clown, i would say that clowns use their heads more than their moufs. And tht is what this nobody should do.

Rite, I saw the interview and he was just being honest, I didnt see it as him taking a shot, he gave an honest opinon.

perhaps he being honest but a wiser athelete would just shut his mouf and work hard and let the facts and talent (which they do not half) speak for themselves. Too early in the season for bulletin board material but you would think he would know better.
On the other hand you half the type of athlete who speak glowingly about ever one and that too is sickening.

I want a middle road where athletes respond honestly with no animosity or machivelianisticism intent and let the fish and chips fall where they might.

But you do acknowledge that efforts have begun towards rebuilding the defensive line? To ask more concisely, the front office has done more than nothing at all? The defensive line is not fixed yet. Far from it, but it is being addressed. The process will not be completed in the short-term.

What efforts? Signing D level talent? We signed a guy who isn't a clear cut favorite to beat out Nick Hayden. That should be all you need to know.
Mincey? The guy is the epitome of the word "journeyman". At best, he is George Selvie, which isn't saying much.

We completely ignored the dline last year and it cost us dearly. Throwing D level talent at such a barren wasteland of talent isn't what I would call addressing it.

I don't care who he plays for. He saw that defense up close so he knows they're garbage. He's a rival and so I'll give you #1 because he put on the stupid green he can be a clown. The rest is just being upset because what he said is 100% true.

Well duh. I saw the exact same thing in person Mr. Jenkins. And my seat was several rows up from field level.

When your core of talented players are on the sidelline or hobbled, and the rest are hobos, would you expect something different? Ryan's last year in Dallas wasn't all that dissimilar. He had an bloody laceration right up the gut of his Dallas defense to work with. We have made a few moves this offseason to improve the defense. The improvements must continue during the draft. Everything will not get fixed in 2014, but efforts have already begun for addressing the player problem.

This is why Dallas is making a concerted effort to get younger on defense. It's easy to see that there have been some personnel problems, but it's also easy to see that a lot of those personnel problems are due to not having players who are expected to be out there on the field.

I wonder if this philosophical change will also extend to not drafting injured players who fall in the draft ... because not all of Dallas' injury issues have been because of age (wear and tear). That's a fine line, though, because any player can suffer an injury at any time and it doesn't always show that they'll be injury-prone ... which I assume is what Dallas is betting on with Melton.
