Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins: Dallas players are the problem; Cowboys defense won’t be any better

I love that he's so concerned with what we are doing. We are so terrible so inferior, yet they always talk about us.

We will see if Marinelli is some magical D Coordinator that can cover up for poor drafting ... like we haven't tried this before ... pfft.

He might be right, but someone tell me how many trophies the Eagles have?

Had be been a Giant, or Patriot, talking this mess, it would be different.

Hold up, hold up. Sean Lee and Bruce Carter are blue chip prospects. Of course they have to stay healthy...but EVERY body in the NFL is one play away from being on the sidelines...but because of the talent and youth of both of these guys...you cannot sign/draft over them? Carr was the top free agent CB 2 years ago...Claiborne was the top CB prospect coming out of the draft 2 years ago (let me also add that anyone compared to Deion is looked at as a once in a generation prospect) Scandrick is a top tier slot CB (there is no debating that). As far as Safety is concerned...well Barry Church is a solid SS. Not the best...not the worst...I would say middle of the road. FS...there is an obvious question mark there. But we spent a 3rd round pick on a kid last year...should we draft/sign over him already?

Now we get to DL. There are obvious holes to fill. But not every defense can have steak at every position. Lets just say Melton/Hatcher cancel each other out. When you consider what we actually got from Ware on the filed (not his reputaion)....it will not be hard for someone else to replicate that...in fact...I think Selvie was our best edge rusher last year. Crawford was a 3rd round pick a few years ago and was considered to be a future cornestone piece before he got hurt. So I am exicited to see him. The rest are a bunch of hungry guys that will be rotational guys...which is important in this defense.

Will it get fixed over night? No. Will it be better than last year? If it is not.....a lot of guys would have failed. I am not a fan of Jerry Jones. Cannot wait until he is no longer running this team. But the Carr's. Lee's, Carter's, Claibonres, Melton, Scandrick's of the world need to play to their contract/draft status/potential. Then you need the young guys like Crawford, Wilcox to emerge. And then you need to hit on 1 or 2 defensive players in the draft. So like EVERY team in the NFL....we have holes to plug. But this is one time where I think the defense was managed correctly this offseason. And there is enough talent on that side of the ball to not be the worst defense in the history of the NFL. If these guys don't have enough pride to not have a repeat of last year...then the culture in Dallas is as bad as I thought it was (and hoping it is not)

He's pretty much right. And for those blaming injuries, we sucked at the beginning of the last 2 years on defense before the injuries hit. And every team has injuries.

The guy just signed about a month ago, and has already trashed the entire division. The guy is no more than slightly above average as a player. This seems to be like if Jeremy Mincey started publicly trashing the eagles over losing Jackson. From the Eagles standpoint nothing good comes from a new guy talking trash in April, who doesn't have the resume to back it up.

Well, apparently it isn't obvious to the people running our front office who keep changing defensive coordinators.

There are several more scapegoats in the yard before we get to the sacred cow in the barn.............but its coming.

Regardless of the veracity of his words, why is he speaking on Dallas, at all? He's an Eagle FA signee, shouldn't he be talking up what the Eagles are going to do this year? Just curious.

It is the players on defense.

That said, we were decimated in the NO game. We're not just removing the two best players from that unit and trotting them out. We're adding several, and then losing two. Plus the draft.

Defense is still going to be a weakness, though. And PHI is going to be getting better, not worse.

This is pretty debatable.

I agree. People don't want to pay attention to the talent on this defense, in fear of being disappointed and looking foolish again. Do you need some guys to step up? Absolutely. Do I expect it to happen? Absolutely. You should have a better front four this year, and I think a lot of people will be surprised just how much of a trickle down effect that has on the next two levels of defenders. Not saying expect a top 5 defense, but expect a whole lot of improvement.

Oh, Malcolm. The defensive talent might be sorely lacking, but the Cowboys are the most popular show on television.

U mad?

He was likely asked a question and gave an honest answer, don't know how anyone would expect this defense to become good overnight without any significant additions. Also banking on the same injury prone players to not get injured is not something I would call improvement.

And the stadium, don't forget about "standing in that stadium"........................Malcom apparently does not understand what is important and what is not.
