Eagles trade C Cam Jurgens to Ravens

As an Iggles' fan, this is the first time I just have to laugh at fans' triumphalism over here. Yes, they're blowing it up, and I'm glad that they're doing so.

Of course they're blowing it up after they've won a Super Bowl and gone to another with this group of players. It's not like we've languished in the desert or anything.

Sirianni will be gone. Why? Because the offense has stunk for two years now. It is totally unimaginative and doesn't take advantage of players' strengths. It has no identity whatsoever. For those of you who haven't watched it, I'm telling you it's unwatchable. Yes, Saquon was a one-year wonder. I'll take a Super Bowl trophy as a trade-off for that.

It's kinda fun to be in a rebuild when you know you've got a GM who can do it, and who has been piling up some draft chips along the way.

I agree with those who say that Hurts might not be here for the rebuild. He's been on this contract for awhile, to the point that it's not the albatross it appeared it would be.

I'll also say this, if they're rebuilding, you haven't seen the last of Trader Howie. You might even be able to pry Zach Baun loose. He'd look good with the Cowboys.

My thoughts are already turning to the upcoming draft...
Only the DUMBEST of the dumb in Cowboys fandom feel victory. The Eagles have been a much better run franchise for several decades.

Howie will be seen as average. Especially when there's no Hurts, no Saquan, no all star oline. Even this defense looks overrated. Case Keenum got off his couch, stole the girlfriend, took the house, car, bank accounts, and played target practice. The Rams proved the defense to be a total joke. The Titans gifted y'all the previous game. That said, the titans suck. It really shines a light on how fraudulent Howie the great is. Now your seeing a panic move by Howie. More to follow.
He was the GM for a 2017 team that had virtually no star quality to it, yet won a Super Bowl. You may see him as average. You're welcome to your opinion, even if it doesn't have the facts to back it up.

It's not victory we feel. It's us relishing in the Eagle fans pain.
My point is that I think few Iggles' fans are feeling the pain. I think most of us looked at this as a flawed team on offense. Once it became apparent that it was true, while I can only speak for myself, I'm thrilled that they're going this route. Gives me something to look forward to...

Exactly

They had an outstanding oline and defense. Let's not crown the guy as best GM ever. He's good. I grant you that. I'm jealous. Wish we had him. That said, he's not walking on water or anything. He's made a ton of mistakes. What about some of those receivers he drafted ? The year we drafted ceedee he drafted a wr that stunk. I can't even remember his name. He's missed on alot of guys. He's still better than will mcclay . I'm not saying will is better because he isn't. But Howie right now I think is dealing with many issues inside that facility. I don't think they are getting along.

Jurgens was never an able replacement for Kelsey.

Not in the same galaxy as a player IMO.
What I relish most is Kelce scouted this player and was his hand-picked replacement lol. Comical. He was good enough to get a SB ring, I hand it to him.

He had 3 catches this week on like one drive and Eagles fans were giddy.

hahahahahahahaah. I think they overdrafted the kid.
Look at all the other WRs taken. Even carnell lake not doing much. So far, it seems Cleveland did the best job, drafting Boston in the 2nd.

Exactly. He's not ready. He might be good someday but it's too early to tell. To me he looked like a mid rounder not round 1. I betcha Roseman wishes he had taken a guard or tackle instead.

Of course not... kelce was a 1st ballot HOFer, and many argue the best center of all time (certainly the most athletic, the way he'd be 30 yds down field running faster than the RBs he was blocking for). That's like saying Zeke wasn't a suitable replacement for Emmit Smith. One doesn't have to do anything with the other. One was a HOF'er....one was "merely" a pro bowl player.

They’re going a soft reset. I doubt they do what they did in 2020 when they fire the coach and trade the QB that took them to the Super Bowl.

We should hope they don’t because if they do, what they bring back will be bad for us. They have Howie and we have Jerry. It’s that simple.
2029 was always the rebuild year where they have all the void money hitting. I'm not sure how Lane Johnson exactly impacts that, but I think a complete teardown has always been the plan. As of right now, it is over $200m cap collars in void years for Hurts, Mailata, Johnson, Smith, Barkley, Dickerson, and Baun. Jurgens' void year was 2030, but they still have over $100m in cap dollars for voided years allocated then.

The goal I think has been to 2031 or 2032. Maybe starting the rebuild a year early expedites a bit (really, it started with trading AJ Brown), but that conflicts with other moves unless they have a firesale to get out of some of those void years. You'd get a haul for Mailata and Smith (I'd trade Mitchell too), but you have to do that pretty quickly.

How is this a panic move? A second in 2028 means Baltimore called Philly. They built a great team, had their success, but the salary cap is the same for every team. The Eagles must prepare for the bill that’s coming due. They got to two Super Bowls with Sirianni as head coach and Hurts at quarterback. Hardly “Hall of Famers” to be. The Rams got to one with McVay as head coach and Stafford at quarterback. Roseman obviously knows something about building, and paying for, an NFL team. It’s time to pay for the last one…and build the new one.
