News: Earl Thomas may not play?

Who? Just draft one.

Elite players make differences. Not need players.
Ok... Just go get Earl Thomas then...Just go get a guy that everyone will complain about in another year for making too much money...Just draft an Elite Safety then...The Draft is just a crapshoot anyway. I like Earl Thomas but I just think they have other needs

Showing up for practice but not practicing for “personal reasons”. The whole thing is so bizarre.

That’s like you telling your boss that you can’t work for personal reasons but showing up to the job and watching everyone else’s work.

Literally the only explanation that makes any sense is that a trade is imminent and the receiving party (not necessarily the Cowboys, by the way) don’t want to risk his injury.
It is really a bizarre drama.

I see two scenarios:

The most likely to me.....both teams have agreed to terms. Part of those terms is that Thomas will not play for either team on Sunday, and they agreed to remain mum until after the game. That includes Thomas, who they don't want around the locker room talking to other players. Thomas is laying low.

The other scenario could be that Thomas is mad and trying to force their hand. He doesn't want to play in this game because he thought he would be here by now. Dallas met the 2nd round demand, and Seattle balked for a 1st, and now Thomas feels lied to.

I also think perhaps the reason that Jourdan Lewis isn't playing is that Seattle wants him in the trade.

All speculation, or course, which is interesting and fun at the moment.

The only thing we know for sure is something is up, and yes, it involves the Cowboys and Thomas extreme desire to be here as quickly as possible.

I'm also certain that Schneider would love to trade Thomas ANYWHERE but here so he doesn't get what he wants. But teams aren't going to give up much for a guy they have little chance of signing long-term so long as Dallas comes close to matching in the offseason.

Meanwhiile, Seattle is looking at 0-3 and a season over the very day they have their home opener.

Seattle is in a bad situation, and the hated Cowboys have them cornered like a wounded animal. It's ugly.

Took the words right outa my mouth!

Thomas can be a royal pain in their tookus and still get his year service in, which requires 10 games, even if he's "injured". So long as he shows up for practice, he can play all sorts of games with them.

That's never been his style, but if he feels the franchise is screwing with him, he probably doesn't care.

They've let countless guys go, and they've drafted junk. They're in a tail spin. (How do you lead the league in sacks allowed when Russell Wilson is your QB?)

Now, there's even serious noise that Wilson might be available for trade in the offseason. They'll want a bunch of picks for him.

Crazy times up there.

Why would he worry about getting hurt in this game after already playing the first two?

Because they had a season to play, and they wanted to showcase him for other teams.

However, they laid two very ugly eggs, and they're about to lay another one Sunday. Baldwin is out. Wagner is 75%. Thomas is refusing to play. They can't protect Wilson, and the Cowboys are second in the league in sacks. Wright is out. They can't run the ball. Their top rusher has 75 yards.

Now, playing Thomas is absolutely pointless. They could hurt a guy who's three months from gone no matter what anyway. They could get nothing for him. And he can play injured all year and watch their team have to muddle through it.

As soon as Thomas is gone, they can get on to their rebuild.

I'll be disappointed if we give up a second round pick. Outraged if it's more than that. (Assuming there is a trade in next 10 days)

If you seen what we have done with second round picks I wouldn't be. Especially how weak I consider our safety position to be as well. Ill take an all pro for 3 more years over a lottery ticket where you lose WAY more then you win anyways. That being said if Seahawks lose here their leverage goes down considerably, they know this and everyone else does and I wouldn't expect their demands to be this high, although they will likely feel it out a game or two afterwards for last hope.

Psst...word on the street, Dallas throws this game and they can have Thomas. But they have to let Seattle hang 50 points plus on them. Just saying.

Sean Lee
Jaylon Smith
Chido Awuzie
Connor Williams
Randy Gregory (yeah, I know)

Those are all second-round picks.

Using a 2nd to get a player like EThomas is a no brainer.....we still get him for 3-5 years of Probowl level Defensive QBing
