Earl Thomas update

Is it "throwing in the towel" to admit the truth rather than trying to lie to everyone? I find it much more insulting to have someone just out right lie to my face. And that's what the Seahawks front office does, they lie.

Name one that hasn't. I'll wait.

And that's make you OK with the practice?

It makes me less personally invested in the product.... hence my repeated statements about viewing the NFL as nothing more than entertainment.

Consider this: If the next installment of the Star Wars movie series came out with an ad like: "We know this movie isn't nearly as good as the previous ones, but we think the next one will be much better!" ..... how do you think ticket sales would go?

I really don't understand why the Seahawks are being so stubborn. They clearly don't have him in their long term plans. He is going to be a free agent after this year. Why wouldn't they just unload him for whatever they can get?

That's cool. I take it personally when I'm lied to. I find it insulting.

I don't see the comparison. It's not like they're coming out and telling me one thing when it's something else.

I look at it like this:

What have they done lately that I've agreed with or thought was a good move?

My own answer?

Not much, if anything.

For a team that used to draft and sign very well, as well as hiring good coaches, they look to have totally lost their way. And I suspect it's only a matter of time before there are wholesale changes at the top. Two to three years tops.

They just think keeping him for one more year benefits them more than just a 3rd round pick.

No one is going to deal with the Cowboys when the prevailing thought is that the Cowboys got the better end of the deal. They would be crucified unmercifully in the press and by their fans. To deal with Dallas, teams have to feel they are overwhelmingly getting the better end of the deal. It has seemed to be this way for quite a while. If Seattle had an AFC team willing to give them a 3rd and willing to pay ET what he wanted, that deal would already be done.

Newsflash: People are lying to you everywhere, all the time. Are you mad all day every day?

I don't think my example is obtuse. If you're an owner of a business that relies on attendance in a substantial way to generate revenue and you tell your customers that you "think" your product is inferior (even when you can't be sure), why would you expect them to show up?

In sports the idea of predictable outcomes is especially tenuous. That's one of the big reasons fans love watching.... because sports is not like tv shows and movies. The outcome is not certain.... all the way to the end of the game. Ask Saints fans.

If I told you in July of 2017 that the Eagles would get to the Super Bowl, would you have believed me? What if I said they would play the Patriots in the Super Bowl and journeyman Nick Foles would be playing QB for them against the all-time great Tom Brady because Carson Wentz was injured. Who would you have bet on? In 1998 the Rams were 4-12. I guess in 1999 they should have told their fans they were rebuilding. Instead, they went 13-3 and won the Super Bowl.

In baseball, Seattle's team had its best player suspended for 80 games, while the Los Angeles Angles have the best player in the game (Mike Trout), and signed the most heralded pitcher from Japan (Ohtani). As of today, the Mariners are 10 games better than the Angels.

Example after example can be given of teams that had no business winning do exactly that. So if you run a team, why would you tell your fans you're not going to be competitive and hurt sales?

I haven't read all the posts here so if this was mentioned l appologize. Sometimes l read other sites and someone mentioned yesterday that the Raiders could be major players in a trade for him. I don't know their source so take that for what it's worth...

Those of you on "Earl Watch" are wasting your time until Woods gets injured or shows he can't play the position though several preseason games. Earl isn't going anywhere so there is no point in watching him. There will only be movement when Stephen or Will are told by Jerry to get the deal done.

But the wife will. That the reason Michael Bennett said he never held out, his wife would kill him.

If his wife is trippin off of him holding out then he must be broke. If he isn't broke and she is still trippin then he needs a 2nd opinion on the misses!

That doesn't help us signing him as FA next year (assuming we don't trade for him this year) because sitting out just extends his rights another year.

If Thomas sit few games and Seattle doesn't get off to good start...there will be tremendous pressure on GM to trade him and move on.
