Earl Thomas update

Earl Thomas - DB - Seahawks
ESPN's Seahawks reporter Brady Henderson and Cowboys reporter Todd Archer both predict Earl Thomas will end up in Dallas.

Henderson believes the two teams will "work out a trade, if not before the season opener than before the trade deadline in October." Archer is less specific, but he thinks Thomas will end up in Dallas "at some point." Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said there have been "no recent talks" between Dallas and Seattle, but it seems like the two sides are just waiting each other out. Thomas is scheduled to earn $8.5 million in the final year of his contract.

If we’re giving up a high level draft pick it better be before the season starts

Just curious cause I’m not up on all the specifics...what will it affect if it’s after?

Is it just so we get 16 games from him?

Exactly. Look I’ll take him at any point but if it’s not till October they aren’t getting more than a 4th from me. I’ll give a 3 today

We can’t afford to pay ET with so many looming extensions on the horizon.

You're right, but do we know what he wants? We can afford him for a year or two, but probably not a good idea long term.

Before every season I am always hopeful a player or multiple players will stand out. Most of the times I am disappointed in the results. But this is the first year in a long time we have so many wildcards and potential for this to happen. Not saying it will happen, but if it does, ET would be the perfect addition for a perfect storm.

Heath is a strong safety. Earl has played free safety. They likely start together.

Heath has had more issues playing SS over the years then he has at FS. The angles playing 10 or less yards back are different than at FS where he is more or less coming downhill in pursuit. He would not get as wide as he needed to.

He is a legit 4.4 and 4.0 guywith good jumps. He has the speed, quickness, and explosion to play either spot.
