Where this team is hurting right now is LB.
Like many positions, linebacker isn't a position a day 1 guy will come in and change anything. Maybe in 2000 but not 2023.Where this team is hurting right now is LB.

Micah doesn't play linebacker and rarely did as a rookie. Name me a guy who came in and was a game changer abd compare that number to the rest of the 1st round linebackers. The ratio is terrible. Last 5 years it's probably lve/Shaq Leonard and that's itMicah Parsons ?
And LB and also LB!!!!OL: Steele has been awful and arguably the weakest link on offense. Can we get out of his monster contract? Tyler B has been mediocre at best…if there’s an opportunity to draft an upgrade do it.
CB: Gilly will be a FA soon and JLew has been picked on as a slot CB.
S: Kearse and Wilson have been weak links as coverage safeties.
WR: kind of a question mark bc if we do a better job getting Cooks involved we’re fine but still need to upgrade MG.
Agree…I’d try to add another Hanks type DT and LBr in FA. Those players don’t usually offer much as rookies and they’re cheaper in FA.It's pretty obvious that this team needs to fix their run game and improve their run defense, which is in better shape then the other side:
-Center (Biaz might leave via fa, team can upgrade the position)
-Running Back (I don't expect Pollard returning and Dowdle struggles with availability)
-Linebacker (If Lve's career is indeed over, then need to find a true mike LB who excels in the run game)
-DE (Armstrong/Fowler are fa's, Parsons struggles setting the edge)
Ding ding ding. Most of the time that goes for interior oline as well.Agree…I’d try to add another Hanks type DT and LBr in FA. Those players don’t usually offer much as rookies and they’re cheaper in FA.
Might also look to add a veteran slot corner if Lewis departs.Agree…I’d try to add another Hanks type DT and LBr in FA. Those players don’t usually offer much as rookies and they’re cheaper in FA.
not sure if Dallas is going to replace Steele this quickly as they just handed him an 82M contract. I think he most probably will return to form from his injury and be the reliable RT he was prior to injury. I think cowboys may draft a LT if a good one falls that far, with an eye on the future, unless they feel Richards can fill that role, or perhaps richards becomes the swing tackle.OL: Steele has been awful and arguably the weakest link on offense. If we want to be serious about contending sometimes you have to eat your losses and not worry about the contract. He’s been a bottom 5-10 OT in football.not sure if Dallas is going to replace Steele this quickly as they just handed him an 82M contract. I could see us drafting a LB in the first, if one falls. that's a huge area of need. one with size to help run defense if nothing else
saftey is a need as well, and probably second round is where we address it as I don't see any saftey worth it falling to us in the first. RB in the 3rd.
Steele deserves a year of recovery. No team cuts a player for not performing a year after acl surgery. If we want to be serious about contending sometimes you have to eat your losses and not worry about the contract. He’s been a bottom 5-10 OT in football.
I couldn't agree more. however I think he is here one more year at least. they are going to blame lack of performance on injury. but hopefully Richards is good enough to replace him quickly if he doesn't show progress next year. they did the same thing with Collins. If we want to be serious about contending sometimes you have to eat your losses and not worry about the contract. I think it's in the Cowboys best interest to re-sign Lewis and Gilmore at this point.Might also look to add a veteran slot corner if Lewis departs.
We don’t have to cut him…but I dang sure ain’t going into next year without legit competition for his job.Steele deserves a year of recovery. No team cuts a player for not performing a year after acl surgery.
All depending on priceI think it's in the Cowboys best interest to re-sign Lewis and Gilmore at this point.
What if it's for the same price as this season? All depending on price
There is an out in his contract after 2025, but he remains to be apart of the future. Coming off major injury, he gets a mulligan, but he to play better next season. We don’t have to cut him…but I dang sure ain’t going into next year without legit competition for his job.
