that Lawrence Sidbury guy has played well today. He is also a super smart player. He is the type of guy that NE tends to draft.

This kid looked 'active' out there today. He broke up a downfield pass and also got into the backfield for a Tackle for a loss too.

Overview

Fitzhugh began his college career as a cornerback for the Bulldogs, but found his home at strong safety as a sophomore. He stayed there through his senior year, when he made 50 tackles, 2.5 for loss and two interceptions. His all-around game and toughness will earn him a shot in the NFL on defense and special teams. Switched his jersey from #1 to #22 for the game against Southeastern Louisiana after teammate Jamar Chaney went down with injury early in 2008; he switched back to continue his tribute to his deceased sister.

Analysis

Strengths: Adequate height and solid muscular build for a strong safety. ... Plays near the line often, attacking plays like a linebacker. Fares well in the deep half. ... Very reliable tackler who can break down in space or close quickly. ... Comes hard to the ball, likes to make the big hit. ... Explosive on the blitz. ... Not fooled by play-action or misdirection in coverage. ... Has the speed to stay with most college receivers coming into his zone. ... High-points the ball in traffic to make the interception. ... Grew into a leadership role midway through his junior year. ... Has the size, tackling skills and aggressiveness to be a special teams force.

Weaknesses: Is not a stout strong safety in the Bob Sanders mold but doesn't fit anywhere else in the defensive backfield. ... Can use his hands to stay free in the box at times, but he usually tries to run around blocks because he can be blown off the play by tight ends or linemen. ... Played some corner but lacks the fluid hip to play man against quicker NFL receivers. ... Fights the ball on interceptions but usually makes the catch.

01/16/09 - EAST-WEST SHRINE STANDOUT: SS Keith Fitzhugh, Mississippi State: At 5-10, Fitzhugh does not have the size of other safeties in this game such as Kevin Ellison (Southern California) and Curtis Taylor (LSU). He seemed to be all over the field throughout the East team's three practices, whether it was covering running backs out of the flat or sticking his nose in on running plays. His aggressiveness and stout 210-pound frame makes it likely he'll spend most of his NFL career in the box. - Chad Reuter, The SportsXchange, NFLDraftScout 01/14/09 - East-West Shrine Tuesday practice: Safety Keith Fitzhugh (Mississippi State) once again jumped out on the field, popping pads and looking at home in covering the flat. He broke down quickly on one play, bringing his hips to wrap Marlon Lucky as he tried to get to the sideline. Fitzhugh also put big H-back David Johnson on the ground with a shoulder down the seam…his coach said "not yet, not yet" - but with a smile on his face. Fitzhugh and Johnny Williams have been shouting "SEC" to pump each other up with a little conference pride. - Chad Reuter, The SportsXchange, NFL Draft Scout 01/13/09 - East-West Shrine Monday practice: Mississippi State safety Keith Fitzhugh looked strong today, showing some corner-like quickness in drills, breaking down well and bringing his hips to wrap up receivers and running backs in scrimmages. - Chad Reuter, The SportsXchange, NFL Draft Scout 09/27/08 - SS Keith Fitzhugh suffered a concussion last week and has been limited thus far in practice. His play but most importantly, his leadership in the secondary has been key for MSU thus far. ----------------------------------------

The game is going to be on again tonight at 1am est. I think I am going to record it and look more at the Safeties. We should be looking for one in the draft and few guys played in this game who should be candidates.

If we decide we want to add a TE in the draft....Bear Pascoe looks like a guy we could use. He isn't afraid to go after it in traffic. He has decent speed and nice size. He also wants to pattern his game after Jason Witten.

It's hard to go wrong with a Bear...

I watched some of the third quarter and some of the fourth.

Ramon Foster (T/G Tennessee) played in the game. I saw him maul one guy on the goalline on a TD run, right behind him, and pancake another guy. As Foster anchored and held his ground in pass protection, I had visions of Cory Proctor getting destroyed.

The Vikings signed Anthony Herrera to a big contract. He plays guard for them. Herrera wasn't even drafted. Foster is better than Herrera at the same point. Both players started at RT at Tennessee. Foster can definately play guard. This guy is big and strong. He's a sleeper.

Foster could have made the Cowboys this year. With the Cowboys sitting with two 4ths and two 5ths, I think he would be a prime target. He can play both guard spots and RT.

I hope the Cowboys draft him. A team that likes big, strong, and powerful players on the offensive line will draft him.

forget that FSU piece of garbage.

Mike Reilly should be our QB of choice.

Reilly's arm is crap.

McGee looked better than him.

The guy that stood out the most to me was Jarrett Dilliard. He runs excellent routes and has great hands. I think he can be a Steve Smith type WR. No not Carolina's version.

He won't go real high because his timed speed is average but this kid can flat out play.

Lucky looked good to but he is a great natural athlete so he should shine against lesser athletes with base schemes being run.

Miller has 3 tackles for the West here in the 2nd half

Miller woefully underachieved at Texas so he is an interesting study. Great athlete, middling production.

And UT has done quite well placing DTs in the NFL. I wonder if Miller wouldn't be a great fit as 3-4 DE. He is athletic and physical but may have some motor issues.

Roy Miller and underachieve don't belong in the same sentence. He had a very good career and Texas and played great this past season. He's not a pass rushing tackle, but a run stopper who clogs the middle. He's going to be missed every bit as much as Orakpo. I think he's going to be a solid NFL player.

lucky from nebraska has been very impressive.

Keep him away from the pain killers and on his happy meds and he could be a good RB for someone.

Lucky is actually a 3-down RB which is rare. Good pass blocker and great receiver. Could easily line up out wide if a team really wanted to get him on the field. Terrific hands.

What an absolute whiff of a take. Miller has been a dominant player for a couple of years and was considered the best DT at Texas even when he was the third man behind Frank Okam and Derek Lokey. If you have confused Miller and Okam, then this post makes sense, as Okam was the guy with the off-the-charts physical skills and middling production while Miller is an undersized guy who dominated. He wasn't quite Casey Hampton good, but he was a poor man's version.

If he confused Okam with Miller, then he's right. Okam's did not live up to his potential. Otherwise, he couldn't be more wrong.
