I am actually all for this move.

I think it brings exactly what the Pats get from Tebow minus the defcon 10 level media circus.

VY was a decent journeyman QB in this league. Not a starter type but a fill in guy. With lesser expectations there are positives to be had.

1. Can run the flavor of the money offense: read-option.
2. Desperately wants another shot in this league.
3. Costs you next to nothing.
4. Has an NFL body and arm even if technique and other areas lag behind.

The only real negative to me will be the silliness of the fan base who'll have him as Romo's replacement by mid-season instead of the back up level guy he really is.

For camp. I just don't know if it's worth the media storm it will create. They could use a quiet camp. But they do need some competent camp qbs. What's Leinart doing?

Leinart brings the same media circus with even less NFL success.

Wouldn't you rather see if the Eagles cut Dixon? I would.

I would rather see us acquire Jamarcus Russell. No guarantee on the money, let him learn and re-develop his game as the #3 QB for a couple of years and see what he turns into. If he doesn't, then we can release him w/o losing any real money.

he's not an RKG, he can't help this team.......

I hate the term RKG.

Plus if you're worried about one non-RKG ruining a team then speaks volumes about the lack of leadership in the locker room.

VY is DESPERATE. I don't know why so many are weary about this.

VY would hardly be my only option but VY is available now and we can use some help now. Did you see USC try to defend the read-option last year? Not even Demarcus Ware could have helped them.

I'd like to practice that a lot this off-season and into the pre-season.

If Dixon gets cut I'd certainly consider him as well.

I am fairly confident neither Nick Stephen or Kyle Orton are running read option stuff in practice.

And money matters little to me because it is for a QB. 3/400K at QB is peanuts and you can save a couple mil next year if the 3rd guy can replace Orton next year.

From my perspective, I think they need somebody as a #3 if only to get them through training camp. The two young QBs they have currently are not playing well...if going by some media tweets. And if they can't perform well enough for the Cowboys to practice efficiently on offense, then they need to bring somebody in.

It could be Young or somebody, but they clearly need somebody.

I think with the Cowboys putting in a waiver wire claim for Mike Kalfta (sp), they are indeed looking for a 3rd QB. Jax was awarded him.

Off the field issues have always been overrated with VY.

I think the teams know a lot more about any off the field stuff than we do. Usually what we get is a small fraction of what really is going on, and the rest is kept private. Unless you're in his cirlce, there's really no way you can know.

I think you underestimate Galloway and Texas fans in general. Young would make quite a bit bigger stir among the media.

If you sign Young, your #1, #2 and #3 QBs will all be over 30.

I like it lol :D...

Well, Vince Young is in Texas, or at least he was recently. He was supposedly giving Universe of Texas QB David Ash pointers of how to be a team player and how to handle your emotions.

I did read that, as much as it didn't make sense.

It's like Pacman giving Troy Aikman or Moose advice on how to conduct yourself in public.

My concern is thus: The second Romo has a poor game, the cries for Vince Young will get deafening from certain elements within the fan base due to the success Vince enjoyed at UT.

You may be right but I'm a big Horns fan and really enjoyed watching the success of Young at Texas he was amazing for the Horns. However this is not college football and no way would I want to see Romo pulled in favor of Young.

Why should this concern you? If Romo is as much of a focal point of this team and leader in the locker room then there is no reason to feel insecure about this.

VY>>>Orton that's all I care about.

Romo would have to sux like T. Jackson for anyone to cry out for Vince Young. I don't think it's a realistic concern.

Backup Quarterback's need to be trusted to prepare meticulously. Vince Young is in the bottom 10th percentile of people I'd want backing up Romo.
