Wilcox was a third rounder.
And went thru a position change from RB to S. That is called a project and you don't draft those that high.

Jon Gruden is going to clean house next off-season.
maybe you don't but nfldraftscout had him right around where he was drafted. He played one year of S in college, improved dramatically, and has good size/speed measurables.
He is not good at all. Not even worth keeping for st's.
this just sounds like sour grapes hyperbole.
He can't tackle.
He takes beyond terrible angles
He's terrible in coverage
Always gets penalties
Rewatch the Detroit playoff game from 2014. He takes bad angles and overrun things all the time but he is a physical tackler and can break down in space.
He is good in man coverage and good at the deep middle. He played deep S most of the year and it was the middle of the field and not over the top where our coverage problems. Up close to the line he takes bad angles and struggles in zone.
He was not particularly egregious in getting penalties as opposed to anyone else on the defense.
Really when all you do is spew binary hyperbole its not very compelling in general.
I disagree with everything but agree to disagree. Heath is better than him at this point.
I'm fine not adding more but if you want to be persuasive to others it helps to actually support your assertions
What did you expect with Church and Wilcox back there? I don't know if he is a good coach or a bad coach but I do know he didn't have much to work with.
So, is this a good thing?
Call me a homer but I'm still not ready to write off Wilcox as a bust. Now Church? Yeah, he sucks.
I've always hated when we don't have coaches who can earn proper titles so they have to make something up to keep them here.
Defensive passing game coordinator? The hell is that? Basically they're saying they're putting him in charge of the entire back 7, while Marinelli oversees the defense in general and probably focuses on the defensive line...
Joe Baker shouldn't be here at all.
I doubt we are the first team who has done this.
Henderson took the same position in Atlanta, it overlooks the entire secondary pass defense, both secondary coaches and the overall pass defense emphasizing communication from the lb core in this instance to the back end.
Clearly they reviewed the issues in the back end and corresponding communication breakdowns.
