I think this is something that we have completely underrated this off-season. Look at what Lee & Carter have developed into. The stories were hearing early on about Simms and Halloman. Give the scouting department and Jason credit but I believe Eberflus deserves some credit for turning our LBs into a team strength

I wonder why he didn't leave with his boy.

I have listened to a couple of interviews of his and he seems really intelligent. He has the 3-4 experience but now he can add Kiffen/Marinelli to his resume or were you being sarcastic?

thought that was a major statement

At some point someone is going to look at Rob Ryan's record as a DC and come to the conclusion that he's not very good... And it was probably coming to that point when New Orleans hired him. Those that have worked with him, rightly or wrongly are going to carry some of that "stink". And even before the injuries, the New Orleans defense wasn't looking so good.

Eberflus looked at the guys he would be working for in Dallas and with and probably thought... "These guys have a few more skins on the wall." Plus look at what the Cowboys have at LB as opposed to New Orleans.

I wouldn't have left either. :)

I don't know that Ryan can really be called a not very good coach. Last season was just a disaster on the injury front.

I think the real issue here was that Ryan was just a terrible fit working with Garrett. Recall that he was not exactly anyone's first choice here. That relationship had a serious Felix and Oscar vibe from the outset. I just don't see them meshing at all.

I was being sarcastic. Smart career move. Don't want that Ryan image rubbing off on you.

I can't see New Orleans defense being good this year either.

Look at his track record... He's had one top-10 defense and has never been part of a team with a winning record. You can blame the talent he had, the offensive side of the ball at places he coached, the head coaches, the owners, the fans.

At some point you have look at Rob Ryan's record and come to some kind of conclusion about his abilities as opposed to all the other DC's in the NFL.

Not me. I think he might be one of the best coaches we have. I was deathly afraid that Eberflus, would follow Ryan. I think we are fortunate indeed to still have Eberflus on the team. I hope he sticks with us.

If you look at the talent in Oakland and Cleveland, it is fair to say they had nothing on offense. The best QB he had on those stops was Kerry Collins. If you are saying Kerry Collins is the best anything, then it isn't very good.

Could things have been better in Dallas? Sure. But it wasn't like we were putting up terrible defenses. That we could do anything at all last year given the loss of Lee, Carter, Ratliff, and one of Ware's arms does say something. I expect if Kiffin weren't available, we would have retained him.

I, personally, don't like the guy. I don't think he gets that he needs to clean up his image if he wants to be a head coach. I don't think he gets that he can't be the center of attention.

Wasn't he under contract until the end of this season?

Why is everyone praising him? It's not like he took guys off the street and made them Pro-Bowlers, Carter and Lee were projected top 10 talents before injury.

I think there's more evidence of him being below average than above.
