@Edwerderespn: Why would the Cowboys deny Bill Callahan chance to interview with Ravens, Browns? Source says because he's potential interim HC if JG fired

@Edwerderespn: Addition of Scott Linehan means Jason Garrett - in final contract year - has 3 staffers with NFL HC experience: Callahan, Marinelli, Linehan

@Edwerderespn: If Jerry Jones won't allow HC Jason Garrett to call own plays, at least now he's being empowered to hire the coach he wants to do it.

If Werder is being truthful about a source leaking that information, the Cowboys need to hunt that leak down and plug it. Obviously, as an owner, you have to prepare for every contingency, but information like that should never get out.

Notice I said "if" so you don't have to lose your cool with the mediot references.

Around and around we go.....Garrett gets fired, Jerry brings in the interim guy. Offers him the full time job in the off-season. Not bothering to interview outside candidates and trying to add a new voice or new direction to the organization.

I didn't want Garrett as a head coach and I certainly don't want Callahan as the next interim/head coach of the Cowboys............this organization is really becoming a laughing stock.......Just give Callahan permission to pursue a possible offensive coordinators job, he clearly doesn't want to be here...

Oh Lord.

And so it begins.

LOL It really is ridiculous. I think Jason is a terrible coach and I want him gone, but at this point, He should tell Jerry to shove it and go coach Jr High ball where he belongs. He has made his money. I would have more respect for him if he did that.

I'm inclined to believe Jerry wants Callahan to stick around for no other reason than to man the OL coaching job. He failed as an OC and as a HC -- that's not at all the case in terms of his success as an OL coach.

Actually, I think this might have been a smart move. Mechanically speaking, that is. Have someone who can take the reins if Garrett stumbles and doesn't show up after all that training he went through at Jerry's knee.

Better to have a coach that can take over if the worst case scenario comes to be.

But doesn't this mean that Jerry cannot take the head coach job because of disaster? Did he really think this move through?

Going to force a disgruntled and demoted Callahan who is being denied a coordinator job in Cleveland to coach the OL?

Sounds like a recipe for success...

Only in Dallas.

Talk about puppets. Some body wake me up. Did we really hire Monte Kiffin as the DC or is this just a dream?

pinch me

Well, I never predicted it would be successful -- just trying to read into what Jerry's thinking might be. After all, he's never been known to have a flawless reputation when it comes to impeccable management. But you're right, after all is said and done -- only in Dallas. Of course, it's always possible Callahan could make enough of a fuss to cause Jerry to change his mind and send him packing. Like you said, only in Dallas.
