CAN YOU SAY SNAIL.

Is that a question "?"

Seriously, speed is great; power and consistency is equally important. George may only have averaged 2.7 yards last year, but he's consistent if nothing else. (2.7 on the 2 yard line makes that a very important real estate.

Actually George averaged 3.3 yards per carry last year. The one are he excelled in was avoiding stuffs. Julius was stuffed much more behind the same line than George was. Eddie George has the power to get back to the line of scrimmage, even with bad blocking. But he lacks the speed to get much beyond the line. If he found a niche on the Eagles it would be in very short yardage situations, but I doubt they'd even want to carry him on the roster at this point.

EG would not be a bad situational player as a between the tackle runner for up to 10 plays a game. But it seems to me there has got to be a better back out there who could get you 2-3 yds when you needed it and could also catch the ball out of the backfield. Someone like ATrain. EG is a player who could be depended on to play as a backup RB in case of injury. He has a great history of playing through injuries but he is too one dimensional and too slow IMO. He's not a threat. I don't see him being signed until the end of camp by an injury riddled team or even into the season for the same reason.

So the Eagles can certainly have him.

Eagles | Minor Talks with E. George
Mon, 18 Jul 2005 20:38:06 -0700

Adam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have had minor talks with free agent RB Eddie George (Cowboys), but they have not stepped forward with an offer to bring George to camp.

Why?

1) George was hardly used by the Cowbozoys in 2004 -- he remained healthy and is only 32; heck, Levens was 34 and we still got some mileage from him last year.

2) George was Born and raised in Philadelphia and probably would love to retire there.

Sure, it could happen! But do the Eagles really need another HB? Well, if Buckhaulter should not remain healthy, George could fill-in. George could probably be a valuable asset to the Eagles defense, (yes defense), even if he is only a side-lines consultant.

We'll see if George shows up for Eagles training camp!

hopefully the Eagles make this happen...george is the biggest stuck in the mud RB of the past 10 years

I am all for EG going to the Eagles.

This scenario is just crazy. Why bother. Being from Philthy is one thing but wanting to live out the rest of your life there is just sad.

He has a comfortable home outside of Nashville and IMO Houston would be a good fit for him.

I could ask you the same question. Especially since the Skins liberated sveeral key players from last year. What was Gibbs thinking? The Cowbozoys have owned you for years! Listen, like you, I actually live in the Washington DC/Virginia/Maryland metropolitan area, so I almost know the news about the Skins as well as a lot of your fandom. George Michaels and Sonny Jergenson always have an interview with Gibbs right after games. It's going to be real interesting to learn why a top quality receiver like Laverneous Coles begged to get as far away from the Commanders as possible; what is the status of Arrington's new contract battles, and several other problems/turmoil that the Skins are encountering this year.

Just a word of advice ...don't worry about Eddie George; worry about that beatdown the Cowbozoys are going to put on you if your team doesn't bring it!

He's a great player! When he gets in the open field he can easly bust off a 2 yard scamper!

Would love to see him start in flunkadelphia.

Are you referring to the same offensive strategy the Cowbozoys used in the 2004 season?

If you meant ...the Eagles don't need Eddie George ...? I agree, but the Eagles' GM must make that call.
