I did see in the pregame show that he practices that catch. Knowing that, it's less impressive to me. IMO, the way Eli hung that ball in the air, OBJ could have got under that ball and made a more conventional catch. He caught it the way he did on purpose just to showboat. To me it seems more like a novelty trick that he's practiced than something that just spontaneously happened out of necessity. Nice trick.

You realize that Eli was throwing the ball right? The only part that made me mad was that catch gave Eli another completion and TD on a very bad throw.

IMO, the throw was not all that impressive other than showing he has a strong arm. I don't think I can throw a ball that high from midfield and hit the goal line but I bet every QB in the league can. OBJ just had to run under it like a centerfielder.

No sir, he could not have gotten underneath that ball. Bro, that was spontaneous and the only way he could have caught it. I hope that you are being sarcastic. Yes, he has always practiced catching balls one handed, he has very large hands so why not practice catching balls with one hand sometimes that is the only way you can make the catch and trust me he wants to catch every pass that is thrown his way, and he will run all day. Don't hate, he is and will be great, it is in him. No trick to it, it is a skill he has been working on just like every thing else, he is the real deal.
yes, I am bias., but I am a Cowboys fan. Google all of his catches even the ones in college, he has a lot of one handed catches, he even caught a kick off in the back of the end zone with one hand, now that one I would say he was showing off. But the ones in game no showing off just playing the game, catching the ball.

You certainly have the right to be impressed by his practiced trick.

I don't understand all the hate, or down grading of the reception, well I do understand it. Anyway I will be turning 50 tomorrow and I have been watching football since I was 1, I have not seen a better catch.
One poster wants to say it was the gloves, no it was not the gloves other players wear those same gloves and drop passes left and right, easy passes, catchable passes. This is something I told one of my sons, friends one day he said he could not catch the ball without his gloves. I told him if you cannot catch without the gloves it does not matter if you have them on you still cannot catch, it is hand and eye coordination, concentration focus whatever you want to call it, anyway another day this kid had his gloves on and he still was dropping passes, I then reminded him of what he said the previous day.
Oj's hand is only an inch shorter than the football.

I wouldn't call that an overall dominant performance by SF. The Cowboys were a missed PI call away from making it interesting or even winning.

Agree. That's a quote from a source not mine. We put ourselves in a hole we couldn't recover from. Deion mugged Irvin and got away with it, but we still almost pulled out the W.

While dragging Carr along for the ride. I get it your not impressed. Your one of a very few.

By the way my point wasn't that the pass was a good one, it wasn't. Which made the catch that much more impressive.

When Tony Dorsett ran 99 yards for a touchdown with only 10 Cowboy players on the field against Minnesota in 1983, did anyone talk about the Vikings actually winning the game, 31-27, or were they focused on the record setting run?

Yeah, I thought so.

I guess Im too young to remember that. However, thats the past. The media is gushing over that one great play. If it was a play that put them over the top to win the game than I can see their point. But the Giants lost and should be noted that they did. It was a great play and nothing more. It doesn't deserve countless highlight reels over and over as if that was the one play that allowed the Giants to win. It didn't. Thus the media needs to get over their high horse. No one cares anymore and probably the Giants fans as well.

Nice catch, we all acknowledge that.... By why do I need to get excited about a Giant player making a TD vs. Dallas???

Not sure why some of you feel the need to go on and on about it. The media/Giant's fans have that covered so he's getting all the attention he deserves, it's not being overlooked. Does it really matter if some Cowboy's fans are over it and don't really care if it's ever brought up again?

It won't matter after a few weeks because he will be back to being an average receiver. He only plays like an all pro when they play the Cowboys.

yes I do, he is family and it is skill, just like his route running. I'll go as far as to say that the best DBs will have a hard time covering him.

His skill as a soccer player is what is helping him with the cuts. Like those players , change of direction is very critical, and it's obvious he's using that to set up DB's and get separation.

Bracketing him, seemed to be effective, as one on one he looks to be a problem for any DB who wants to play him straight up.

Nice to see another " old-timer" on the board.

Does mocking a great play by an opposing player = leadership?

When emmitt did it with the star and then another player tackled the opposing guy on the star wasnt leadership?

Emmitt flat out responded in a mocking fashion of the same celebration.

Of course it can show leaderhip. Ali used it all the time in boxing.

They were definitely focused on the run, not the game results. That's why I used it as an example to compare this play to.

I think his catch was outstanding. I don't mind admitting it is the best I have ever seen. I also don't mind being happier about the game result being a W for Dallas.

Yes, it was an outstanding catch, No doubt.

Who won?

Oh yeah,, Beckham can have the catch. I am sure he is happy with the catch , more than getting the win. :)

Agree. It was definitely a wow catch.

I was actually more impressed with his overall abilities. Not only can he make the contested catch, but his ability to get in and out of cuts or stop/start on a dime is also very impressive. He's going to be a difficult guy to cover in the future is the Giants put better receivers around him.
