This is one of those times where JAG players are going to look great when everything around them is going well.

Quality depth is critical in the NFL. A little scary to see the Cowboys down to LG-3 the first game.

Edoga was predicted to be a trainwreck by hand wringers around here. He was solid but he was not getting any push in the run game.
I think you are wrong....made multiple comments in the game chat that he was getting push. He opened up a really nice hole down near the goal line and Pollard cut right off his block.

I still think at best Edoga is gonna be average....which is fine if he is the only one playing with the rest of the starters. Honestly I feel all three of the backups can hang in if needed. The problem is if more than one of them have to play at a given time. Then you will see a major struggle.

But, you can't tell me that you weren't scared when Tyron went out for a couple plays and then Edoga went down for a few. I was like you have to be kidding me. I am glad they were able to get some backups in for a little game action. It will pay off down the road.

Maybe. I haven't had a chance to rewatch the game. When I do I'll look closer.

Here's the thing this happened last offseason the cowboy zone the social media pundits ESPN all said the Dallas Cowboys had a historically bad offseason because they didn't have enough talent they didn't replace enough talent they didn't have enough depth... I mean winner everyone gonna realize you should never prejudge a team before they play a real game and the fact is you gotta let him play at least get 5-6 games in in the season to see where they're really at you know a bigger sample size than just guessing because that's what people do with these preseason rankings.. It turns out we had plenty of depth to get to the second round of the playoffs last year and it turns out we had plenty of depth this year to cover up that linebacker offensive line things look pretty good I mean those safety hybrid linebackers filled in real good.. All the talk about Isaiah land we're going to rue the day we let him go and yet I'm pretty sure our pass rushers feasted last night I think everybody got in on it I don't think we needed that dude..

So let's be clear this isn't really an attack on you I just get tired of hearing all the preseason stuff especially about not playing your players in the preseason how did that work out all the teams that did that where is the oddsmakers on which one.... games i saw yesterday the first half most of them look like garbage.

so all those things that were created in the media the narratives around here ,they were all wrong about the cowboys....

I probably need to back off the booze a bit since I don’t recall Bass getting in there.

I agree a 100% with everything except Land . . . I would have liked to hold on to him.

It's almost as if some fans are shocked when a player the Cowboys sign in free agency does well. When in reality their track record of finding talent (especially in the draft) is among the best in the league.

Not talking Edoga up to be more than he is. But Dallas saw a veteran who could do a good job if needed for a start here and there, and last night he was exactly what they thought he would be.

I think Waletzko is on the outside looking in due to always being hurt.

Our OL depth "issues" are the biggest singular misnomer about this team all offseason/preseason.

All anyone had to do was watch how our backups played all preseason to know we were fine.

Having said that, Edoga surprised as all we heard was the media saying he looked bad and then was hurt.
the linebackers and tight ends are the 2 areas of concern. We need better from Ferguson.

MM has a history of making an Oline work with guys, we just are not use to backups playing well because of the JG dark days. Gotta give MM props we keep finding good OL backups.
true. He pieced together guys no other team wanted and made them better as a unit. Thats kinda his calling card. His days in San Fran and New Orleans helped him greatly before he became the Green Bay HC. Many don't understand he was on a staff that won rings in San Fran and New Orleans. Before he ever went 2 Green Bay.We are blessed to have him and his knowledge.

The offense had a lot of help from the defense last night, NYG defense was already gassed by the second quarter and the momentum was solidly on Dallas's side. I'm hopeful that the media panning of our OL depth was overblown but cautious about reading too much into a win with that many extenuating circumstances.
It was complimentary ball.

Edoka is fine as a spot starter at Guard, but will be exposed if he had to play extended gsmes
