Once again, these guys are being found outside of the first round.

McCoy - 1,600 yards, 9 TDs
Bell - 1,300 yards, 8 TDs - 854 receiving yards
Murray - 1,800 yards, 13 TDs
Charles - 1,400 +1,500 yard seasons
Martin - 2 1,400 yard seasons
Foster - 1,600 yard season

Only one of them were taken in the first and he was in the late rounds. Why the hell would you give a big contract to a rookie RB when nearly every quality back in this league were most productive on cheap rookie deals? We talk about overspending on here a lot, people whining about Dunbar, and we're here talking giving RBs contracts that normally go to premium positions?

There is no reason to give Zeke that kind of contract when you're most likely to find someone who gives you similar production outside of the first.

I bet you are a BPA guy, except when the BPA is a RB, C, TE or LB.

All positions can be found outside of the top 10, all of them.

This often? There are incredible RBs being found outside the first round nearly every year. Yeah, I am "BPA", I don't pass on someone I place on top of a draft board because of need, even though the player of that "need" may be a mediocre prospect.

And I'm an advocate for taking an LB in the top 6. I am NOT against taking an RB top 5, but that RB better be the next Barry Sanders. It better be an RB prospect that is going to give me years of quality production. I want Jacks in the top 5 because he has skill sets you rarely see from a LB.

Here are the RBs draft in the top 5 since 1990

Garrison Hearst
Marshall Faulk
Curtis Enis
Edgerrin James
Ricky Williams
Jamal Lewis
LaDainian Tomlinson
Ronnie Brown
Reggie Bush
Darren McFadden
Trent Richardson

So, looking at that list, the ones that were actually hit on, Zeke should be a Faulk or Tomlinson-like prospect, right? Even IF Zeke was that kind of prospect (He's not), the NFL simply hasn't had much success drafting RBs in the the top 5 in over two decades. So no only is Zeke not a true top 5 prospect, it doesn't make sense financially, and you can find RBs who put up big numbers outside of the first and even out of the second.

It doesn't make sense to draft an RB like Zeke at 4. The thought needs to be put to bed.

I think the difference between EE and the next best RB is larger than any other position, except FS and Ramsey. QB, OT, DE, DT and LB all have more similar players rated higher.

We may not get EE because we go Ramsey, QB or DE but it shouldn't be because he is a RB.

They are so easy to find but we don't have any for another year. What a waste of a great OL.

There are actually quite a few really good rbs on that list.

Faulk
Tomlinson
Lewis
Williams
Edge
Hearst (I think was a pro bowl player as a rookie and blew out his knee playing flag football in the sand at the probowl)

So yes, that's a pretty high success rate for hitting on the pick. Thanks for the info!

The list, genius, wasn't to show you the "success rate" but the TYPE of prospects that went in the top 5. Secondly, "really good"? That's your expectations here? A top 5 RB needs to be "really good"? No, "really good" RBs are found outside the first or in the late first. Top 5 RB prospects are great prospects, those that lit college on fire during their time.

So, you have Faulk, Tomlinson, Lewis, and James. FOUR RBs, ALL of which were in the 90s aside from Tomlinson. So, EVERY SINGLE TOP 5 RB outside of Tomlnson since the turn of the century has been a complete and utter BUST.

Haha, this is laughable. :lmao:

Ronnie Brown - Bust, big bust
Reggie Bush - Bust, didn't come near the electric RB everyone expected
Darren McFadden - Injury prone, bust, average at best RB when healthy
Trent Richardson - Bust

But yeah, let's throw our top 5 pick at a prospect that isn't even a better prospect than 3 out of those 4 listed. He certainly isn't anywhere near the prospects that went on to be successful in the NFL.

Zeke is a better prospect than Lewis and James and I think will be better than both guys.

Well if you ask around here Bosa isn't close to Elliot's talent level. So I'm not sure about your premise of relative talent. But I'll say this if they like Bosa and Elliot equal I'm happy with Bosa. I'm just not sure that's the case.

The arguments I've heard :
Ramsey doesn't have the picks
Bosa doesn't have the ceiling
Jack doesn't have the production

And so on......Elliot however has pretty steadily been mentioned as having no weaknesses.

Alot of us are gona be dissapointed regardless.
i dont watch college ball so im totally basing this off
of wat i read. but ramsey had 3 picks in 4 years? yet ive seen many ppl call him a playmaker? a Cb who plays the ball? regardless of how he plays 3 picks in 4 years for the #4 pick on paper doesnt sound appealing to me.

Bosa, i hear "greg ellis". he will be good but not great.
so i mean idk.. id get Elliot .

if SF is willing to movw up to 4 and get a QB , we move to 7 + another 2nd rd pick maybe? and draft elliot @7 . right before Philly. :D

this possible?

Their 1st, 3rd, 5th and 6th would be about equal in terms of the point chart.

You're a sweet kid, but really I'm no genius. Just an average guy who likes football a little too much.

Elliot running for back to back 1800+ yds seasons and having over 40 tds doesn't seem to compare to Faulks 1400 and 1600 yd seasons?

What exactly is it that doesn't make him a top flight talent? What exactly do you have to do to "light college on fire?" Lol
