2 games this year under 2 YPC, hes not starter, he doesn't get the same type of dirty yards when defense actually is Stacking to stop the run. zeke gets far more attention than pollard.. IDSC what you think you see both are equally as important in this offense , one wouldn't be successful with tout the other. they are working off each other. No way could pollard be the #1 work horse and still have his 1-2 game burst and bigger runs. that obvious to most, don't care about his size, i see who he is during games.
Not disagreeing with any of this. I think the idea of a "starter" or workhorse, one back offense is outdated, unless you have a true stud, which is rare and they typically don't last long. Zeke was one for his first few years. That screen against Pittsburgh was an example of what a stud he used to be. I love Zeke, but now he has a role and is still great at it. Bring in the right person for the situation, and find new cheaper healthy running backs every few years. Spend the cap on the impact positions.

Solid post here. I kinda like the idea of using Zeke the most in the 1st quarter to set the tone and in the 4th quarter to be the closer.

I literally said Zeke was a stud for a few years and I still love him and he's great at his role. Where did you get any Zeke hate in my post?

Yeah.. Chubb gets a full YARD more before contact than Zeke does.. 3.2 to 2.2. I don't think people begin to understand how huge that is. It's the difference between being hit for the first time by a linebacker or a safety and being hit by linemen.. The Browns may not be a great team, but Stefanski and CO. know how to scheme up the running game. I am constantly amazed at the number of times I see Chubb and Hunt get to the second level untouched. Now I realize that they don't have a top tier QB (yet) so they have recognized that this is far and away their only chance to win games. They treat it (the run game) like a priority... The Cowboys treat it like it's a nuisance. Or a placeholder while they cook up the next pass.

Ronald's hypocrisy is on full display here.

Just a week or two ago he was whining about how yards before contact is even measured, ridiculing whether it's even a legit stat. Now, he's using it as the sole basis of his latest alibi has to why Zeke isn't getting it done (i.e. because Zeke supposedly isn't getting blocked well enough for).

Funny, how Pollard's been able to average 5.1 YPC for his career behind the same offensive line.

Exactly. These children coming at me like zeke should get 200 yards a game on 14 carries?

Please....

Then act impressed that Pollard rubs off a 20 yard TD rush every 10 or 15 carries?

Like we didn't see randle rub off a 40 yarder all the time. Until he got the #1 spot then flaked.

To be clear I want both Zeke and Tony very active in our run game. KM relied on them with Cooper can he dare do the same with Dak?

Luuulz, this is now the latest lame alibi for Zeke "bUh, he'z not gEtting eNuff cArriez!!!!"

So, we're now supposed to be giving Zeke 20+ carries a game so he can supposedly cook?

Here's the problem. Zeke doesn't deserve 20+ carries a game anymore. He's absolutely UNREMARKABLE with the ball in his hands.

Just five (5) career runs of 40+ yards in 1,744 carries.

Pollard has six (6) on just 372 carries.

And in true hypocrisy, these Zeke stans heeehaw about Pollard have two games averaging less than 2 YPC, but don't mention the fact he only carried the ball 8 and 6 times those games. Then, they turn around lament that Zeke's poor YPC is based on him not getting enough touches.

So....you cited career stats that he never was a long ball hitter....now beeching because he isnt.

Emmitt didnt destroy defenses until later in the game, post 15 carry either.
" but but bu bu its a different nfl"

Try to cheer him on as best as you are able. I know i will cheer both zeke and tony with all my heart.

Pollard runs different plays. They get him out in space away from the line.

If you were paying attention....they tried him agsinst the philly d line.....didnt work out too well and he let them get a bee line to cooper at least a couple times.

1) 4.2 ypc is not "poor." Unless you consider Marcus Allen, who averaged less than that for his career to be a "poor" running back.

2) The backup needs to drastically outperform the starter to get more carries than the starter.. That's the way it works.. The backup can't come in whiffing on blocks AND average 1 yard per carry and earn more playing time. Guys who have run for 7000 yards in the league have the right to keep pounding away at the defense even if they aren't getting big chunks.. Career backups have not.

The long run argument always amuses me because of how irrelevant it has been shown to be over the course of the history of the league.

Barry Sanders had more long runs in his career than anyone.. His teams made the playoffs 5 times. The team went 1-5 in his 6 career playoff games..

Meanwhile the much slower Emmitt Smith got to the playoffs 8 times and he averaged 93.3 yards per game in 17 games with the team going 12-5.

Gale Sayers was another big play machine.. who never played in a playoff game..

OJ Simpson was a former world class sprinter who was a threat to take it to the house from anywhere on the field.. appeared in one playoff game in his career. Which his team lost.

Meanwhile the much slower Franco Harris.. managed to get to the playoffs 10 times and play in 19 playoff games.. of which his teams won 13.

Eric Dickerson was extremely explosive and delivered many highlight reel runs.. 5 playoff appearances.. 7 games.. 2-5 record.

Marcus Allen was his contemporary.. much slower, n ot nearly as explosive.. yet managed to get to the playoffs 10 times in his 16 year career.. His teams went 9-7 in his 16 playoff games.

Adrian Peterson was likewise explosive and exciting.. 5 playoff games in 4 appearances.. 1-4 record.

At some point you fantasy nerds are going to learn that winning football is more predicated on steady production over highlight reels. Then again if people haven't figured it out by now they probably never will.

I know people will counter with "but those guys went to better teams." Yeah.. Emmitt went to a team that was 1-15 the year before he was drafted.. An absolute juggernaut..

Now our fan base thinks and states Pollards our star RB without using logic.. a few pretty plays and now hes our best RB..no hes an asset to our team but zekes career says hes a Star in the NFL...

NOW SF fan base is salivating over the Cmac trade as if a RB trade and player like Cmack who may not make it health wise to the playoffs is their missing piece LOL that a lot of draft picks and $$ for a RB..

I mean nice trade for them i guess but his health, contract, and from the RB positions, not a missing piece from where i sit. I think they saw the rams wanting him badly and made sure they took that away from them.

No genius.

He’s no longer the dynamic big play back he used to be.

That’s the problem with you stans; you keep wanting to believe 2022 Zeke is still 2016 Zeke.

So are you going to actually provide some data on your claim “Emmitt didn’t destroy defenses until later in the game after 15 carries?”

Go fetch me some actual data instead of trying to treat your beliefs as fact.

Agreed.. though I think Shanahan has just enough ego to believe HE can stop CMac from getting hurt I firmly believe they feared the Rams getting him more than anything.. Which I find comical.. The Rams' line is terrible.. and CMac would not play three consecutive games for them before getting hurt again.. meanwhile they would have given up even more draft capital. Letting the Rams have him would have been a poison pill..
