My top 5 in no order:
Jay
Nas
Em
Rakim
Andre 3000

honorable mention:
Biggie (more albums and he'd crack the top 5)
Pac (flow was average but content and emotion were nuts)
Pun (more albums... like a cross between em and biggie, incredible)
Black Thought (just as lyrical as anyone in my top 5 but too underground)
Common (great artist, lyricist, in my top 10)
Mos def (top 10, he'd be in my top 5 if he cared enough to put out more material)

All you know about rap is Eminem..and we know what you two have in common, so just stop it.

Give me Pac or Nas any given day 1 & 2..Jay-z after them, hell prime Ice Cube I'd rather listen to then Eminem

You need to come on over to sohh so you can get roasted

Oh man, let me not go to Sohh.com..because the big bad bullies over there who swear they are thugs on the Net, will Roast me for saying EM is a better rapper than Nas....

Nas and Em could drop a single today, and i bet Em gets more spins...

Go to Sohh and keep acting like you know rap. I could tell all you do is **** bang with anyone who seems "cool" or agrees with you.

I'm Actually a fan of Bone Thugs, first...but i wont be afraid to say Em is the best rapper today

We're talking about the music broham..not some gossip you read on the internet. If you wanna talk about "beyond racist" how can anyone forget Eminem's 'Black B****' tape..thats in the open for anyone to hear

oh i see....

This is why you hate him.

Explains a lot

you hear too much radio rap. you're just ignorant on the subject.

I'm not saying rap inherently sucks, I'm saying there are a much higher percentage of artists who suck in the rap industry compared to others though modern pop country is closing in fast.

I'm a big fan of your list. This is mine:

Jay
Nas
Andre
Biggie
Five is tough, I hate to leave someone out, but I'll slide Black Thought in there. He's incredible really. I wish he changed up his flow more, but he still kills it every time.

I agree on Pac, he's great but I don't bump him as much as others, mostly because of his production. No denying his content though, he was a smart dude and is classic. Don't like leaving Rakim out. Common has been too weak for me lately. Love Mos, and yeah wish he was striving to do a bunch of his own, good stuff.

I disagree. I honestly don't listen to the radio, there are probably a few songs on it that I like at any given time. But, there are sooooo many bad rock/hardcore/whatever bands that just play the same music as the next people. Stuff I could write if I sat down with my guitar for...10 minutes.

And yes, pop-country is god-awful. The thing about that is - NONE of it is good.

That's nonsense.

Maybe there are a higher percentage of rapper who suck that are making MONEY than other genres, but I don't even know if that's true.

No, I think there's a common misconception that these guys are required to be considered the greatest ever. they weren't.

I'm fine with you liking Fabolous over anyone, but there's just really no way he's BETTER than Jay, KRS, Biggie, etc. I mean to say, he's not one of the best of all time, and I wouldn't call that debatable.

Sorry bro, but if you have BIG and 2Pac outside the top 5 you don't know rap period.

Now way Eminem is better than Biggie (Jay-Z is debatable). No way Faboulous or Rakim is better than Biggie. No way Nas is better than Pac. This coming from a the biggest Nas fan you are going to find.

Jay is well known as a biter. He says it is in honor, but it is just un-original. Not to mention that hard knock life song. Ugh.

Big also ripped Pac and his style. He really only has 10 good songs, Pac easily has 20. Fab has more than 10 and just never hit the market the way some others have.

KRS is one of my favorites. Yet he lost me after his last strong song IMO..."Love is gonna get ya".

Rakim was the OG without even swearing. I never said Nas is better than Pac.

Fab twists lyrics in a similar way that Em does. They write some serious stuff that most would never even (or haven't even) think/thought of.

Em is better than Jay-Z. Em goes against the trend. No need to try to fit in, make them fit you in.

You're so off base its not even worth debating you. I could break it down and explain why youre wrong but you've clearly made a vow to hail those guys as the greatest while completely ignoring all logic. There's some sort of emotional attachment there so I'll just leave you alone on this issue.
