Just can't wait for the season to play out. People have a tendency to remember more good than bad or the other way around for some players. Will Dak flop in critical games like last season or will he progress and make some of us believers again. Going on 5 years of starting you either show us now or you are what you are.

I said last year there were no excuses going into the season, but there were plenty and some were justified. This has to be the year where all excuses are off the board. No more duds for 3 quarters, no more failing to hit guys in stride on a consistent basis, no more leading your receiver into death if the defender is in perfect position.

I don't care what the final stats show or what the competition does. Throwing for 2 yards on a 3rd and long isn't cutting it. Throwing for 200 in the 4th when trailing after posting 150 all game isn't cutting it. At the end of the day the stats don't tell the whole story and I feel too many are using that as their baseline argument. Get paid like the best then I better not see someone that can get replaced by most other starters.

Booger McFarland said the same thing.........consider the source and the agenda behind it

Isn't that true for every team that has a franchise QB?
we failed to capitalize with our window and now we're working backwards to fix it. History has proven to us you have greater chances on rookie deals, not after he gets paid. Same story with rookie qbs winning the SB and the path Dallas took. For all the things the team has done right they're literally going against the odds because of emotional attachments.

Honestly this board sometimes makes me wonder if these people were here in the years before we got lucky with Romo. Ryan leaf Quincy carter. After Troy we couldn’t find a qb to save our lives. Now we have one and people want to not sign him and just go find another one lol. Like it’s that easy

And it gets worse. We had people saying on here that KC should cut Mahomes in a year when he gets highly paid.

In the first 4 years when Dak was on his rookie deal we didn't hear ONE word about cheap rookie deals and Dak. All we heard about was that he was backup material and we could never win with him.

Now they want to cut Dak and go with Dalton because he is cheap. LOL

As if Dalton is going to take them to the promise land. These trolls cant get their lies straight.

If Dak can lead us to a Superbowl now is the time. We have about a four year window before we start negotiations again with the likes of Dak, Zeke, Lamb, Diggs, and DLaw. So it maybe a now or never situation.

You keep missing the whole boat. Its not about DAK LEADING. Its not about Dak at all. Its about the team. If you want to pick one guy then what you should be saying is this:

Mike McCarthy has everything he needs to make a deep run. Great offense, franchise QB, top 5 RB, best WR's in the NFL, all new coaches and a revamped D.

Its about MM leading, not Dak Prescott.

This is the issue with you QB challenged types. Its all about the QB for you. When in reality, its not.

Funny, because I didn't hear you hail Dak as being awesome because he was on a rookie deal. Despite me telling you that he was only costing us 1million per year.

But what would he know, right?

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...-play-chicken-and-will-get-the-deal-done/amp/

“No doubt," Smith said. "I believe he is [a Super Bowl-caliber QB]. And I think he's getting better. I think he has so much more room to grow and I think he'll get there.

"I think overall, we have a lot of the pieces of the puzzle in place. ...If they can get to that level and develop that chemistry in this timeframe which they have to work with, then I think Dak will only flourish and grow. I think you see that team mature and rally behind their quarterback because he has had some challenges this offseason dealing with the loss of his brother, as well as this pandemic and other things that have crept up. I think he'll be fine.

"I love the kid. No doubt, I think he'll be fine."

So was Trent Dilfer with the right team around him. Doesnt mean he should be the highest paid QB or get to demand every term of the deal

You need to read his quote again. He said he thinks he's a Super Bowl caliber QB.

It means nothing at all. He's an ex player supporting another player in his contractual efforts. That's what they do.

True, but the real question is………..do you sign him? The answer to that question is 100% yes.

Not for what he's asking, I wouldn't. He'll play for whatever they agree upon. It won't happen until both sides agree to sign.

False. In this case, none whatsoever! Football players routinely support one another in contract matters. It means nothing.

So you can definitively say Emmitt is not being genuine? Mind reading skilz - wish I had them.

I will take Emmitt's word over anyone on here. As well, MM said himself he liked what he seen when he and his team were studying all teams during his hiatus from whiney boy Aaron. He liked Dak.

The cap has nothing to do with anything, if Dak gets signed and paid long term, they can still surround him with talent. Remember this team doesn't not waste money in FA and drafts well.

Staubach said Romo was real good and nobody believed him either, there's no getting people out of their entrenched positions.
