You don't have to minimize his loss, simply because he has money.

It's primarily a financial loss, so yeah, his financial wherewithal minimizes it.

The video doesn't show Jimmy crying over lost photo albums, or pets or other irreplaceables. It takes us on a tour of his hurricane-damaged tropical estate.

It matters that Jimmy has the means to restore his estate to its former condition (or any other condition he chooses). It means Irma only cost him some money. Hard to get too worked up about that given the costs she imposed on others, far less fortunate than Jimmy.

Feel for Jimmy, love Jimmy, respect Jimmy. I'm glad the coach is safe and truly feel bad for him. He's blessed beyond most with money and will recover in time. My heart goes out for all the folks in both states/Caribbean where a great percentage will never recover from this devastation. I will continue to pray for all.

I just lost everything in Harvey. I know how he feels. I didn't even have flood insurance. We had just purchased a home after struggling for 5 years. Our area hadn't nt flooded in over 100 years.
Even though Jimmy Johnson, who is incidentally from here, is wealthy... That doesn't make it hurt any less.
Some things, time, energy, keepsakes, etc can't be replaced.
I feel for him

At first before I even watched the video I was like "Awww coach can rebuild, he got doe"......Than I watched and even though we all know he can rebuild, he is still human, he still hurts. I am pretty sure lots of time, energy, effort, pride and joy went into building that house. I am sure plenty of great memories were shared in that house. I don't care how much money he has, just would like him to be happy in his golden years,

No, what sucks is the complete lack of perspective. Why on earth would people even report on this? Tens of 1000s of people lost everything and have no way to get it back but let's focus on the rich guy. this takes the focus of those who are truly suffering and need assistance.

Yet y'all suck down a dumb human interest story while ignoring the real tragedy surrounding it.

There's plenty of focus on the people who are far less fortunate and lost a lot. I've seen tons of that on the news, being in south Florida. It's not like this is the only story on the Keys/S Florida about someone losing their home/damaged. I never saw this reported until I went on this forum.

Why wouldn't they report this? Cause he's rich?
Whether Dolphin fans like him or not, he had a big role in South Florida sports dating back to the 80's.

Well he says he has the money to rebuild + insurance should cover a lot of it if he had insurance. Looks like a dynamite place. I'm sure he will be up and running in no time.
I went thru similar stuff with the ex-wife back in 2004 in West Palm Beach.

We lost our roof and screen enclosure..about $70,000 worth of damage.

And it was only a Cat 1..

the big challenge now is getting help to start work to fix it.

We took over a year to get it repaired.

There will be plenty of work now.

It becomes a big economic boom for tradespeople and money flows.

But its a nightmare.

Who is ignoring the real tragedy? Jimmy Johnson is a celebrity, and more specifically he's the former coach of the Dallas Cowboys and won 2 Super Bowls. Of course people on this board are interested in his story. The fact that he's rich doesn't change the fact that he LOST HIS HOME. Are we not supposed to feel empathy for people because they have money? How much money do they have to have for us to stop caring? Can we care about people who lost their homes but have insurance? And by the way, showing what Jimmy lost doesn't take focus off of the people who need help, if anything it shows us how bad things are down there. If anything, it makes you realize how many different types of families it affected. Gimme a friggin break with your "lack of perspective" b.s.

Tough to watch, but all these stories coming out of Florida and Texas are tough to watch...

Hang in there people if you were caught in the path of the hurricanes...thoughts are with all.

Rich, poor, black, white....losing a home or anything precious is devastating because it has personal meaning and those memories cant be replaced, doesn't matter who you are. I will continue to send out my prayers to all of them and pray they get back some normalcy.

Losing one's home no matter your status is horrible. You have nowhere to go. You can't go home to grieve because it is gone. If you're going to belittle that then shame on you. Take your righteous and misplaced social indignation to some other site to pour out your venom.

He still lost something. If you can't figure that out & accept that, we are done here.
