I did not like Randle's blitz pickup, but maybe that is for another thread.

The guy was already stumbling. He could have decleated that guy, but instead he went for the knees.....dunno about that one. Bad block

That TD doesn't happen if the OL doesn't give Romo the necessary time.

That TD doesn't happen if Romo doesn't have pinpoint accuracy on the throw.

That TD doesn't happen if Escobar doesn't have excellent hands.

Kudos to the OL, Romo, and Escobar.

The blocks of everyone on the Line was amazing. Tyron's set was beautiful. If Randle would have gotten a good chip Romo could have eaten a sandwich back there.

If Romo anticipated that he is amazing. I think it was a set play to throw the ball high to Escobar at the center goal post.

I wonder if he was trying to hit jwitt

When you look at the helmet of Romo you can see that his 2nd read is Witten. He found him covered and went on to Escobar.

Because he went to Witten after his first read he missed an wide open Hanna.

If it was Romo looking for his buddy and not making the right 2nd read (Hanna) is up for discussion.
I for myself believe the play is desingned for Hanna to be the 2nd read.

Anyways.... Its good to have a OL that gives our QB the additional time to make up for such mistakes.

I cant say how we are going to do as a team with Bryant out. But I bet Escobar has about 4 or 5 TDs while he is out. Romo seems to really trust him in the redzone

Going to Witten on 2nd read and not to Hanna; taking Escobar as your last resort when the play nearly is over.
I don't interpret that as alot of trust in his TEs not named Witten.

Its not just that play, but going back to last year it seems the redzone is the only time Romo seemed to look for Escobar

Yeah, you nailed it. All 3 TEs should have been simultaneous first reads. Then we would know Romo definitely trusts his TEs.

Love how Leary just throws his guy on the turf at the end of his block. Love a mean streak in a OLinemen.

Yea, sorry I didn't mean to suggest he no-looked it, it's more like this:

That's the point where he's throwing the ball, and Escobar is literally blanketed by 2 DBs with another streaking across the window (covering Hannah and trailing). But somehow Romo reads how the play was designed, notes Hannah's positioning, and makes the throw anyway... and hits his man.

It's what makes Romo uniquely special -- his ability to read and react is second to none. While he has become a student of the game and sees a lot pre-snap, he also has the rare ability to visualize how players are moving around the field and go all playground on defenses when a designed play breaks down. Quickest on-the-fly reads and throwing motion in the game today.

He also missed Hanna I'm the middle too, but he wasn't looking to go there...still a great throw and catch by those two.

He doesn't miss Hanna. If you look closely, the cornerback is staring right at Romo and only 1 yard from Hanna. That's a sure interception. Witten, too, is basically covered. Romo did the best thing possible and hit a crossing, coming open, Escobar. Thing of beauty it was!

This is sneakily one of Romo's best plays from the game. After looking to the right for a second in the beginning, he looks to the left for Witten. Witten doesn't come free, and without even looking back to the right to see where Escobar was going to be, Romo just throws it to where he figures Escobar (who when the throw was made, is behind a whole wall of blue shirts) will be crossing into open space.

I'm in awe.

Also, I love the design of this. 3 TEs in a run formation on short yardage, but all go out running crossing routes. Witten sets a pick for Hannah, and Hannah sets a pick for Escobar. Romo has great anticipation and hits Escobar at just the right time in a window that wasn't even open when he released the ball.
Great post. Watching it from that angle, that's a helluva play. From Tony's angle, it's a smart decision too, because it's either a TD or thrown away. He had a split second to make that decision before the defender sacks him. Brilliant stuff.
