As much as I like Greg Ellis we have reach the point of no returns. Either he plays Sunday or sit his but down until mid season. This team has to have guys that can be counted on week after week.

We are not that talented to not bring Ellis back, if he is ready. He's not playing this weekend but if comes back week 3 or 4 or week 15, he ends up bringing more pressure then anyone (except Ware). Basically, if he is ready, bring him in...

So, if he's ready to play by the second or third game, you still don't want him to play? Why?

Ditto

In about 2 weeks it will be 10 months since he got hurt. That's 2 months more along then he was when TC opened in late July. I expect to see Ellis back on the field near the end of Sept. With his play and additional time Spencer had to learn, this time will really be unstoppable.

Even if he DOES return, he will be a liability IMO. We'll just have to wait and see. I personally think the guy is finished.

Many people are overlooking that point.

What is amazing to me is Ellis was puzled when we drafted Spencer.

An achilles is a 12 month injury the great majority of the time. Ellis was injured in November of last season. We'll see what happens as time goes on.

Ellis seemed as puzzled about Dallas drafting Spencer as McNabb was puzzled about the Eagles drafting Kolb. Older veterans should realize that the future comes sooner rather than later in the NFL.

IMO Ellis is afraid of the injury. He has had at least three doctors tell him it is ok to play but he keeps looking for another opinion. If he wasn't cleared he would not have been out in practice.

I hope Ellis can get this right in his head because he is a very good player for us, I just think he has something mental going on regarding the injury.

Why is it a saga? It is an injury. A pretty major one that takes time to recover from.

This whole thing is a joke!! If I were Phillips I would have cut his *** a long time ago...the obvious truth is that he is looking for a contract and is banking on Spencer falling flat on his face in order to increase his leverage. My guess is that Spencer will improve after each game and Ellis will suddenly get better the moment he realizes his ploy has backfired....too bad he will be sitting on his couch watching the game on T.V when he does.

How exactly is that going to help anything?

Except that you can't CUT an injured player.

Aside from that great analysis. (please note sarcasm)

Its no freaking ploy, go tear that ligament and see how long it takes you to get back, get real.

Sometimes that gets forgotten...

kevin smith (pup) never fully recovered.

in fact, how many players have recovered 100% from an achilles rupture injury? if he's not even been able to practice at all then what kind of "Football shape" is he in? we've been going "day by day" when it's more like month by month.

we'll see what happens but if ellis has yet to hit the field, i doubt suddenly he'll wake up today or tomorrow and go "golly, my foot feels 100% again!" and skip around like a little school girl.

spencer better be ready or we've got some issues on our hands.
