My **** was backed up. You and CL attempted to compare the discussion on the board over the last two days to the spontaneous combustion that happened after the Denver game last year. All just so you could hopefully peg people that are attempting to get over a win on a board they enjoy as whiners, criers, realists, etc etc blah blah blah. I originally felt the move was weak and.. wait.. let me check.... Yep. Still do.

Great post. But what the whiners and complainers forget is that even back in the day the Cowboys didn't just dominate the league and waltz into the Super Bowl. And the same kind of *******es who are braying today were hee-hawing about how much the team sucked, Landry ought to be fired, and they virtually booed Meredith right out of town.

1966--Season ends in the NFL Championship with Meredith throwing a 4th down INT in the endzone. (Boo! Get rid of Meredith!)

1967--Bart Starr sneaks the ball across the goal line with 13 seconds left (obviously the defense lacks heart. Get rid of those losers like Jethro Pugh, fire Landry because that defense chokes).

1968--Lose to Cleveland in the first round of the playoffs to Cleveland 31-20 (Meredith sucks, Landry sucks, blow up the team and start over)

1969--Lose to Cleveland in the first round of the playoffs 38-14 (Fire Landry! Blow up the team and start all over!)

1970--Lose Super Bowl V on last second kick by Jim O'Brien. (Fire Landry! Team can't win the Big One.)

Now of course, these teams, and Landry, are immortals who never did anything wrong in the minds of the weak-minded. Why can't the current Cowboys be more like them?

I have never once said I am happy with the drought. Not once. Not ever.

But I at least know how hard it is to get there and don't run around shouting at the moon over a single loss.

Disguising it as same thing we've always seen is just a bunch of nonsense.

So is trying to minimize it with the 'just one game' mantra.

This has been the 'best team on paper' since about 2007 with nothing to show for it.

The coaching has helped contribute to that futility, specifically Jason Garrett, the guy who gets a free pass from many because he's a former Cowboy.

His problems aren't limited to one game, he's struggled since he's been here in one way or another, but it's been chalked-up to 'growing pains' or learning on the job.

Well it's been 4 years and the same issues are still here.

Nobody has more firepower at their disposal than Garrett does and he continues to underachieve with it.

There's no more preseason excuses to mask it now either.

I'm not advocating 'firing' anybody, but changes need to be made. Garrett is in over his head and needs help and something has to be done to ensure that he - and the offense - gets that help, before another season of great potential is wasted.

As I said I don't think anyone is happy with the play of the team right now and with high expectations that anger is double right now. I fully understand that having real conversation about mistakes or bad calls are perfectly legit it is the over the edge crowd who is beyond reason. Unless you are ranting and carrying on people assume all you want is mediocrity which is far from the truth it is hard to carry on conversation when those going off on constant rants

Yes the loss hurts, but what concerns me is that there were/are signs that there are bigger issues with this team , that I thought they had grown beyond.

I prefer the term realist, which means I criticize the team when it deserves it, praise when it is merited, and try not to over react to a close loss to a divisional foe on the road.

No, because back in 2008 we had a game with 12 penalties. It was not similar in score or outcome to Sunday where a holding penalty prevented an amazing come from behind win, but there were 12 penalties. We just can't get away from 12 penalties. Open your eyes. You just have to watch the games from a self proclaimed realist perspective.

Why pick 2008? The penalties, bad coaching, and other crap's been happening for longer than I care to remember. Wait, we do have those 5 SB trophies to brag about, thought the tread on that is wearing thin also.

You know what? There are 32 teams in the NFL. You have a 1 in 32 chance of calling your shot right now. Who is going to win it all? What will there record be? Who will they beat to do it.

You'll see me as the first one to celebrate any victory as well as discuss what we did well and did wrong in any given game. I think it's funny that you try and make it seem like I'm undeserving of being a fan of this team just because I don't agree with everything that the Cowboys do and, surprise, discuss that disagreement on a forum.

From what I remember, when this team was doing the same crap as it is now, your "realist" vision on past boards was very close to a poster going by the name CBR, only now he's become more "Homerish". I know you can't be one and the same.
