Entire 2018 draft class gone

The Cowboys no longer have anyone left from their 2018 draft class

First round: Leighton Vander Esch, LB
Second round: Connor Williams, G
Third round: Michael Gallup, WR
Fourth round: Dorance Armstrong, DE
Fourth round: Dalton Schultz, TE
Fifth round: Mike White, QB
Sixth round: Chris Covington, LB
Sixth round: Cedrick Wilson, WR
Seventh round: Bo Scarbrough, RB

For a team that relies heavily on its own players thru the draft this is horrible. LVE was such a breath of fresh air at LBer when he came in, thought he'd be a staple in the middle the next decade like Urlacher.

Add in the complete mess of a draft last year and it's not looking good. Cowboys will be forced to sign FA players in the coming years to be able to compete.

It may not be long before the entire 2023 draft class is gone. I don’t see much hope in anyone we drafted last year. However, I haven’t ruled out Jalen Brooks developing into a decent receiver.

Add in the complete mess of a draft last year and it's not looking good. Cowboys will be forced to sign FA players in the coming years to be able to compete.

That was actually a pretty good draft class but the players on the list were just derailed by injuries. At one time or another 5 of those players were starters and 1 was a solid backup. Most draft classes you are lucky if you get 2 or 3 starters.

Bummer. Just about all of them found success in the league though, whether for Dallas or elsewhere. Good job by the scouts, awful job by the front office in how they managed these players.

Here is how the Cowboys view it though....

They got 3 second contracts and 3 comp picks out of it.

To them this was an A+ draft

In reality it's not a horrible class, but lacks a true cornerstone piece.

That's actually a really good draft class. I count 5 starters including a Pro Bowl LB and a 1,000 yard receiver.

Those first five players all ended up being pretty good for you. For a 6th rounder Cedrick Wilson was decent too.

LVE had a few nice years, Connor Williams started a ton of games, Gallup had a 1,000 yard season and pre-injury was a good wideout, Schultz is still getting paid, and Armstrong is a good starter.

Any team would take that draft class any year. Lots of starting NFL talent there.

Most of them are still in NFL. Probably more a knock on Jones Boys signing abilities more than Will McClay's draft savvy?

I count 7 still in the league. That's not bad drafting at all. You ain't gonna draft an all pro every year.
