The Cowboys no longer have anyone left from their 2018 draft class

First round: Leighton Vander Esch, LB
Second round: Connor Williams, G
Third round: Michael Gallup, WR
Fourth round: Dorance Armstrong, DE
Fourth round: Dalton Schultz, TE
Fifth round: Mike White, QB
Sixth round: Chris Covington, LB
Sixth round: Cedrick Wilson, WR
Seventh round: Bo Scarbrough, RB

Well, who knows, we could end up getting Williams back.

The only terrible picks in this group were Covington and Scarbrough, and they were late-rounders. White took longer to develop than we gave him, but the rest were solid players, including four starters (Vander Esch, Williams, Gallup and Schultz). Maybe not all of them should have been starters, but that's the way we roll. No superstars in the group, though, that you keep for the rest of their careers.

For those keeping score, we also have only draft pick left from 2017 (Jourdan Lewis), one from 2016 (Dak Prescott) and one from 2019 (Donovan Wilson). This is the way the NFL rolls.

We have two from 2014 (Martin and Lawrence) and two from 2020 (Lamb and Diggs). The six from 2021 will thin down to one or two in a year or two as will the seven from 2022.

Exactly. That is a good success rate for a draft class.

You guys do know that is actually a pretty good draft class - right?

Two of them were actually really good and were planned into our long-term plans, but were the victim of injuries - LVE and Gallup. Four others played well, especially for the round where they were drafted in and got paid from other teams.
The only one that was really a dissapointment for me was Connor Williams, as I expected a little more from him, but still he was not a bust.

That was actually a solid draft. Just didn't work out long-term for the Cowboys. I'm sure if you took the time to look around the league, you'd see much of the same. Just the way the cookie crumbles.

5 of the 9 players are still playing in the League. They are also contributors on their teams. LVE was a starter up until a career ending injury. Not a bad draft at all.

Not surprising that players may cycle out. That draft class is 7 years ago. No stars per se, but plenty of legit NFL players in that class.

I would be interested to see someone find out how many players from that draft are even still in the league. But that's not going to happen because that won't fit the "narrative"

I know this team has been lack luster for a long time and cannot get out of it's own way in the playoffs.

I know it is trendy to bash this and that and most of the time for good reason.

However to bash that draft frankly shows people are not realistic and only interesting in being that old woman or old man who is only happy when they are complaining and loves the company of misery.

Whether or not they are still with the team does not matter. Most teams would love a draft where the majority of the players are still playing past their rookie contracts.

Hell this might not be the dirty dozen draft but it is so far superior to the special teams draft.

Some times you gotta quit just being negative to fit your agenda or salty posting style.

We get it...you are edgy misanthropic emo man that only sees the glass half empty no matter what.

When you never see the bad side of things...you are not realistic.
The same holds true when you never see the good side of things.

For a team that relies heavily on its own players thru the draft this is horrible. LVE was such a breath of fresh air at LBer when he came in, thought he'd be a staple in the middle the next decade like Urlacher.

Add in the complete mess of a draft last year and it's not looking good. Cowboys will be forced to sign FA players in the coming years to be able to compete.
Injuries = short career.

Dude was built to play LB.

your math sucks since it is comin up on SIX years
Four of the players are under contract for 2024 and both Connor Williams and Michael Gallup will be on an NFL roster this year.

Seven years is correct.

It is seven years later. Six of those draft picks are in the NFL, just not with Dallas.
McClay may be drafting them....but someone in the building is getting rid of them.

Just who may that be??????
