That's why he received a one-year deal, but it was an expensive one-year deal because of the difference-making possibility. It would be the equivalent of us having signed Earl Thomas this offseason. The thought is he's too old or injury prone, but maybe he's also the piece that puts us over the top.
Maybe Berry will be a cheaper version of that, but I seriously doubt he signs here because it doesn't fit the current FA philosophy. I'd like to see it because I'd rather take a chance on change than stick with the status quo, but the Joneses would have to take at least somewhat of a risk (with there being a good chance that they would be taking that risk on the wrong FA safety).
