In 1984 he had 379 attempts, 2105 yards, and 14 fumbles.

Murray is on pace for 416 attempts, 2144 yards, and 12.8 fumbles.

Heck, Tony Dorsett fumbled 12 times in the 1978 season, when we lost the SB against the Steelers, and had 2 other seasons where he fumbled 10 or more times.

Is it the end of the world? I don't know, you tell me. I for one think Murray will get it together and this fumbling won't be an every week occurrence, but history tells us we can still go far.

(Yes, i'm trying to make light out of a bad situation in this thread)

I remember holding my breath lots of times when Dorsett had the ball. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now.

Afraid you have to take the good with the bad on Murray. The guy is too important to the team right now...the defense, running, receiving and blocking. He is a complete back right now and you can't bench him in current mode. I am sure it is not even being considered behind the scenes. Hopefully, he stays under Dickerson's number, but I don't think he will see 2,000 yards. If he does, then the Cowboys WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS...you can put in three-inch headlines!!!

The game now is built on momentum and making every drive count whether its a FG or TD. You have to have the ability to keep pace turnovers near either goal is bad because you lose points that that way. Look at what happened int he SF. This team could be 5-0 right now if it wasn't for turnovers.

If you want to look at a famous fumbler look no further than Dorsett. I think he averaged about 10 fumbles a year most of his Dallas career.

Who cares! They aren't playing to try and get Murray the all time single season record. They are playing to make the playoffs and to get a shot at the Super Bowl. I'll tell you this, if Murray fumbles 14 times, this team will not even sniff the playoffs. They aren't good enough to overcome those mistakes against the good teams they still have to play.

I sincerely appreciate your perspective and the history. Makes me feel a tad less worried. I believe Demarco will tone it down too and continue to plug ahead.

OK, first folks are comparing Murray to Emmitt Smith... now he's being compared to Eric Dickerson.

Who's next?

Gayle Sayers?
Jim Brown?

I think he was just showing that fumbling is more common than you might think and it doesn't mean your going to lose every time. Seems like most of the sarcasm on here comes from people who should know better..

Eric never won a Super Bowl either. Murray needs to correct this. This is 4 games now, in 5 weeks, that he's lost the ball in the 1st quarter ( sometimes 1st drive ).

People are probably going to think I'm crazy, ridiculous and unrealistic saying this.

But if this fumbling keeps up, I sit the leagues leading rusher.

There was a time where Murray went over 300 touches without a fumble.

Suddenly this reoccurs just about every game?

I don't care what quarter, it's unacceptable and hurts this team more than his yardage helps this team.

Eric Dickerson is going to play football in 2105? How old will he be?

If this team is going to be about keeping games close with ball control and running then it cannot survive a plague of turnovers and penalties,,, especially with a bad defense. This simply has to stop, and what's scary is that Demarco still doesn't cover the ball with two hands when he's in traffic or being tackled.

I wished they would have reviewed that fumble, we were at the end of some rough refereeing today initially, guess it evens up finally.

The problem is...most teams with one or two losses could say the exact same thing. Reality is, all teams will turn the ball over and it will happen at inopportune times. No getting around it when balls must be handled multiple times on offensive plays, not to mention the intent of defenses to knock it loose. You want to keep turnovers to a minimum but they will happen, and many more will happen to the Cowboys this season. They are maddening because they are unpredictable and harshly arrest momentum. They instill us with a feeling that something has been stolen from us personally...and depending on the existing emotional investment, our response can be quite emotional and irrational. In other words, turnovers really s### !
