Hmm..I thought it was money related. Thanks. I never remember hearing anything about him failing a physical or being injury prone.

A source told FOXSports.com that Winston was cut under the “failed physical” designation by the Texans. Winston, though, told FOXSports.com that the billing stems from his having undergone arthroscopic ankle surgery in February.

In a text message, Winston said he will be medically cleared in two weeks. Winston also said he would be fully healed by now had he undergone the minor procedure in January.

At that time, Winston had no idea he wouldn’t be playing for the Texans in 2012. He had started every game for the past five seasons and was considered one of the league’s better right tackles. But with a $5.5 million base salary for 2012 and the Texans having salary-cap issues, Winston became expendable.

One of the Texans OL Newton had knee surgery this week.

I think he was Winston's replacement. He'd probably love going back there. Not a new team to him & I think he's big on local radio there.

Our cap hit with Free this year is about $7 mil right? So even if we sign Winston to a contract that's around $6 mil a year then we save cap space and get a better OT. Win-win.

But...but...but Winston is going to be 30 next year, and according to everyone in CBZ, you instantly become a useless drooling vegetable once you turn 30...

Chiefs are releasing RT Eric Winston, per league source.

Should the boys have any interest?

Kick the tires, we need O'line help in the worse way.

That rule applies much more to a player Jerry drafted and that many people never liked or wanted to give credit to from the start.

He was released from the Texans after he failed a physical. There is a reason why KC is dumping him after one year, and it's not for cap reasons because they have plenty of it. This is the kind of guy people want to open the check book for, while simultaneously mocking Jerry Jones for signing Marco Rivera and Leonard Davis in free agency in other threads. Now they'll mock Jerry Jones because we didn't sign a 30 year old guy with what looks to be a degenerative condition who's been released in two consecutive offseasons. Maybe we can get him next year when he's looking for his 4th employer in 4 years.

His brother is a college scout with the Dolphins. He played in Miami. He's perfect for their ZBS. If they don't sign him, you know there is something majorly wrong.

i read I read somewhere where he was a bit of a problem, too. Mocking the front office and the city. And that he had essentially quit on the team last year. FWIW.

But hey, its a name... And an OL.... So clearly, he would fit great in Dallas.

Extremely interested......good tough guy with a mean streak. Extremely interested!!!!!!!

Right Tackles in Dallas used to be the tough guys. The es. Big "E", Erik Williams slapping the great Reggie White around in the 90's was fun to watch. Even Mark Colombo. He was the one in the middle of every scuffle commanding respect from opponents.

And now, we have twinkle toes, Doug Free, who led the league in helping up his QB last season. :D

You're right.

My dad lives in Houston & has told me Eric was one of their most popular players. He said he's on the radio there all the time & he's very good at that. Maybe that will be what he does when he's done with football.
