I so wish younger fans understood how incredible the talent level was at this time. Big E before the car accident was arguably on his way ti being the best offensive linemen ever but his stint was far too short to be in that conversation. Then add LA who is easily top 1, 2 or 3 lineman of all time. Then the rest of the line like Gogan, Stepnoski, Newton and Tuinei were so so good. I feel like the Cowboys have been blessed with high end Offensive lineman throughout the history of its organization. We like to brag about RB's and QBs throughout the Cowboys history but man we have been blessed with high end Special Olinemen as well.

To any younger fans out there. Big E is the only lineman that could neutralize Reggie White. The guy was special.

Not unless in that same alternate reality Emmitt doesn't tear up his hammies in 1994. Much as I would love to believe we could have won 5 in a row that notion completely ignores the physical toll of playing 3-4 extra games at the end of the season. By 1995 the Cowboys had played 13 playoff games between 1991 and 1995. Basically a full EXTRA SEASON of highly leveraged, high intensity football! To pretend that was not going to begin to take its toll on players' bodies as they got older bespeaks a fundamental lack of respect and recognition of the beating these guys take. Ironically, I think if someone were to assemble a team as good as the 90's Cowboys in today's watered down NFL that team would have a far better chance of reeling off 5 in a row than those Cowboys teams did. The only challenge would be managing the cap and keeping the team together. But if you had a superstar like Brady who would set the tone by taking less money you might have a chance.
The biggest reason for the loss in the 94 NFC championship was the pass rush by the 49ers against Aikman.
- Much of that came on the offensive right side because Erik Williams was out due to the car wreck earlier that season.

Darren Woodson says unequivocally that they would have won if EW had been healthy for that game.

We had no one that could stop Brown. Williams certainly helped but the major difference in those games was the loss of Brown out of the Philly interior.

Similarly, a car accident stole 79's quickness.

I certainly have nostalgia for that era but it was tragic after 93. Bottomed out with Sualua and Tui.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame needs some type of Special Circumstances category.

Erik Williams in 92 and 93 was completely dominant. As good as it gets.

Jerome Brown at his peak was one of the most dominant DTs I've seen.

It wasn't even about the talent. You KNEW that if anyone on the opposing team stepped out of line, Big E was always the first one to step up for any teammate. ALWAYS. There was never a game where we got pushed around when #79 was suited up.

I remember a interview with Otis Sistrunk years ago who said there were guys in the NFL that did not care about the game at all; just wanted to hurt people without going to jail
Ha! I remember that name. I was a Raiders fan in the 70s.

I like the idea.

I put a lot of stock in being 1st Team All Pro for the HOF.

A guy who never even made that, and just flamed out, was Bo Jackson. Short career, but was just a freak when he played. He's part of NFL history.

Emmitt was injured too. :(

The narrator of the video was a little too melodramatic for my taste.

Anyway, Michael Irvin tells the best story. I wish I could find the one where he talks about Erik Williams. I think it goes, as Irvin tells it, Jimmy Johnson was going to fine and not let play in the 92-93 Super Bowl anyone who broke curfew. Well, Erik Williams did. So, Big E walks in the team meeting late and the players were worried because they thought Jimmy was going to make Williams miss the game. Jimmy, as Irvin tells it, with his lip quivering says, "Erik, I'm disappointed in you. You're supposed to be a team leader ... and after this game we'll decide your punishment." Irvin said the whole team broke out in cheers with Michael saying, "From that moment, I knew we were going to win." :)

1) My post was hypothetical, which means Emmitt getting hurt may not have happened in my alternate timeline.

2) Jimmy staying means we don't have to deal with all the distractions and drama that happened.

3) Jimmy staying means many free agents would choose to stay with Dallas because of the atmosphere and a shot at an unmatched dynasty, and we would have had our choice of available free agents wanting to get a ring.

4) Go try to black pill hump someone else's leg.

The biggest reason for that loss was Jimmy being gone and the tremendous drama and distractions that caused. The fact that they didn't crater that year is a testament to how great that team was.

We also got jobbed hardcore by the refs in that game. Had Deion rightly been called for P.I. we likely come back and win that game. The 49ers were on the ropes at that point.

Had Jimmy stayed we might have gone undefeated in 1994.

I watched the games...all games that season.

Darren Woodson says they win that game if Erik Williams had played.

Having said that...Erik might not have had the car accident if Jimmy was still the Head Coach.

They won the Super Bowl a year later...Jimmy was not there...

Dobler was just a cheap-shot guy.

Randy White would have killed Dobler if he tried those antics against the Cowboys.
Funny how a lot of top DTs played in that time span and none of them did that
once again you fire and miss
