The biggest reason for the loss in the 94 NFC championship was the pass rush by the 49ers against Aikman.
- Much of that came on the offensive right side because Erik Williams was out due to the car wreck earlier that season.

Darren Woodson says unequivocally that they would have won if EW had been healthy for that game.
No the biggest reason for that loss was that the team knew it could not lean on Emmitt owing to his going into the game with a bad hammie so guys came out trying to do too much. That's what led to Aikman going to Kevin Williams on the first drive and letting Eric Davis beat him to a slant for a pick 6. Then to Kevin Williams trying to do too much on that KOR and fumbling as well. Then just for good measure you had Irvin fumbling trying to do too much on the next possession. Had the Cowboys simply been able to play THEIR brand of football, which would have featured a heavy dose of Emmitt and play defense they would have eventually solved that 49er pass rush and in fact not being down 21-0 in the first 5 minutes thanks to three turovers would have meant the 49er pass rush could not pin its ears back knowing the Cowboys were in pass only mode. If that game stays 7-0 through the first quarter the Cowboys probably win that game by two scores. That game was lost on the early turnovers. The early turnovers were because Emmitt was compromised and the Cowboys were forced to play a different game than they wanted to.

The players lost that game not the coach

I think Williams was better than Larry Allen because of the meanstreak. He didn't have as good of a career due to the accident but at his best he was the most dominant.

Allen would flatten you and then help you back up for the next play. Williams would flatten you and then step on your throat on the way back to the huddle. I'll always take that player.
