Escobar only had three offensive snaps on Sunday?

Teams are eventually going to gameplan for the run and thats when Escobar will hurt teams. Beasley isnt a deep threat and Escobar will be able to attack the seam if a team plays a safety close in a 3 WR set. Their are going to situations where Escobar offers us bigger threat then Beasley in the slot

I wish this 2TE dream for Jerry/Jason/whoever employed by the Cowboys would die.

Or at least don't use premium picks on someone you'll never use.

I'm starting to think we may have the most complete offense in the NFL.

Maybe his shoulder isn't quite 100% yet.
I'm sure their are packages for him, maybe the game didn't allow that to happen as often as they wanted.
I'll have the patience to wait and see.

I agree he really hurt that shoulder in the preseason and I assume it is still tender, when it happened it looked like a month of sundays was going to pass till he was normal again, not enough healing has occurred to let him back to his old ways. IMO he is going to come back and all this talk about his decline will be forgotten. This guy has the same ability to hand catch as Dez, and Cole, along with being in a 6'6" TE body.

Fasano and Bennett did pretty well after leaving Dallas.. Maybe its the Coaching staff not the player..

My uneducated unscientific opinion is he isn't an effective blocker, may never be an effective blocker, and therefore isn't a great fit for the power offense the Cowboys have morphed into.

Witten and Hanna are better blockers and therefore when 2 TEs are on the field it really never makes much sense to have Escobar out there.

Unfortunately for Escobar, I think he was drafted to play an offense, where the plan was to feature throwing it to the TEs a LOT like NE did with there for a while. The Cowboys no longer run that offense.

They never did.

You guys are unbelievable.

There's a role for him on this team. Quit complaining about an embarrassment of riches. If you're going to complain, let's hear about the paucity of edge rushers we've got on this defense.

Escobar is an embarrassment of riches?

lol

I like the guy, but come on now!

The inability to get Escobar involved is a slap in the face to Cowboys fans after numerous tight ends we've drafted early at the cost of helping this defense.

And guess what, they all go on to succeed elsewhere. Fasano, Bennett are both doing well in this league. Escobar will go on to be a premier tight end for someone, and we'll have wasted another draft pick.
It is AMAZING how people cannot understand this to be the truth. You get shouted down for telling the OBVIOUS truth! It's not like it is a reach to come to this conclusion. It is plain as day. Who spends a 2nd round pick on a #2 TE? It is simply comical that we continue to do this. There are teams all over the league with #1 TEs that were not even drafted on the first day! But there are fans who stubbornly jusify us spending a 1st day pick on a 2nd TE! Comical!

No TE taken in the draft last year by the Cowboys, at all....just thought you should know that....so guess it's not continued.
Oh they did sign a UDFA TE, want to complain about that?

And there are also quite a few teams WITH TE's that were 1st round picks.

Two TE offense of Garrett!!! yeah!

Wait, have we essentially scrapped Garrett's ideas and drafting accordingly for it?

Hannah has looked better than Escobar this year. That should tell you what you need to know about the quality of that 2nd round draft selection. Dallas missed on that one.

more like hannah who could'nt block when he came into the leaguer has progressed farther as a blocker. which is understandable since he has been in the league longer. his rookie year hannah could'nt block well at all but he has improved. fans just don't get the fact that some aspects of the game, players who did'nt do in college have to learn to do

Running two TE blocking packcages and using them as a focal point of passing plays, like they were in NE is different. That is what Dallas meant when they originally were talking about it with so much hype.

not sure why some fans just don't get that

I think most get that…the issue is why spend 3 premium second round picks on a small role player?

Same could be said for drafting Felix Jones too, he was a 1st round luxury. Those are luxury picks and other parts of the team suffer for those toys, I think that is what bothers me…I see an OL that was neglected while drafting offensive role players. Now it is continuing somewhat but now the DL is lacking.
