It's a bummer, but I'd say he basically has 2 weeks left on the roster, assuming Hanna is healthy.

Fasano was drafted 10 years ago. Bennett was drafted 8 years ago. Both are still in the league.

Time to let them go.

Bennett is one of the better TEs in this league after he left here and can stretch the field with the best of them.

We are so married to Witten and while reliable, brings our offense to a snail's crawl down the field. We don't even give the others a legit chance to make it work. We blew him being immature out of proportion. Bennett has spoken on this very subject and I believe him. TO has even talked about it, too.

I find it maddening that when we showcased him in 2013 against the Giants at home, he went off. Then we never played him again much after that. Don't get it.

Such a waste of a 2nd round pick and we never even gave him a legit shot. Wasting resources.

I love Witten and what he has done but his role needs to be diminished. Go to a 2 TE set. I don't get our fascination of all these different TEs knowing we won't ever go away from focusing on Witten.

You think they cut him straight up?
There would be no point putting him on IR because he will be a free agent after the season.

I don't think they will cut him. He does play special teams and they have some ST only players like Rod Smith that would be easy to cut and then bring back if somebody goes on IR later.

I disagree on MartyB not being given a legit chance. There were years that John Phillips got snaps over him because he didn't know the offense. Physically, Phillips was not remotely close to MartyB's talent either blocking or catching, yet he got plenty of snaps.

MartyB has said that he expected to replace Witten as the #1 TE during his rookie season. When it didn't happen he put in less effort and just bided his time until he could go to another team or until Witten got injured.

I followed MartyB closely back then because I thought he would become a star player. I still remember going to training camp during his 2nd season. His physical abilities were incredible. I thought he one of the most talented players that I had seen at any position. In receiving drills he ran like a WR and could just pluck the ball out of the air with 1 hand while surrounded by defenders. His blocking was better than some offensive linemen that were in camp. He literally could have played a game as an OT with better results than with some guys the Cowboys have tried at OT over the years.

I'm really at a lost when it comes to Escobar, I believe the talent is there he's just not getting the clock for some reason.

His catch radius is better than Witten or Swaim, he can do things as a receiver that neither one of them can do. I just don't understand it at all, and when Escobar leaves I fully expect for him to make an impact on another team.

Its utterly ridiculous that we can't get this guy on the field at some point, not like he has some obvious character flaw like Bennett.

I just don't get it at all.

Agree, at use his attributes creatively in the red zone..............

Escobar was not only a wasted pick. He was a dumb pick to begin with.

There is nothing wrong with Escobar talent wise. I think he is suffering from front office politics. I think that Escobar was Jerry's pick all along and that Garrett just doesn't care to use him much because he's skillset is not part of the playbook.

Which ones weren't good?

TEs sit behind Witten who was stolen in the third and is a first ballot HOFer. If you want to fault them for drafting a TE backup then ok but who takes Witten's place IF he went down. You know most people are injured here and there. Just not Witten except for a game in a galaxy a long way and time ago.

I do agree they did not use Escobar as they should have. They should have left him as a hybrid and put him in the 12 and used Witten or another as a blocking TE. They over bulked him instead of working on his speed.

Bennett could play all three downs and yet still didn't have a place here all things considered.

Witten is a savvy player and has great knowledge of where to run his routes and catches about everything reasonably well thrown to him. Having said that he is slow as **** and his blocking effectiveness at this point is overstated.

I agree but that's not the direct point which is other TEs aren't getting his snaps and looks whatever the reasons are.

the least we could do is use him in the red zone, the fact that we are not even doing that now when Escobar has shown he can be a reliable RZ target is indeed baffling.

Why would we do that? That is exactly what teams would be expecting. We have to throw them off the scent!

Could be interesting to see what happens once Hanna is healthy. They seem intent on keeping and developing Swaim, so he'll remain active. Hanna remains the best blocking TE on the team and was just re-signed so he sticks. I'm guessing Escobar would not make the active roster on gamedays.
