Hey don't overlook Suzy's kissability factor :p: ,,, and given that ESPN had to choose one of their 3 Sunday Night bozos to fill in, Theissman wins by default. I cannot imagine that blithering idiot Maguire moving up and the other guy never played.

love theismann and also Madden and Michaels

hate collinsworth though

is there anyone you guys like except for Aikman

seems in every sport the annoucers are despised like in HBO Boxing... LOL

Yuck.

Al Michaels is a chronic whiner and Joe Theisman is annoyance personified.

Nice job ESPN!!!

Yuck, Monday just got alot worse for everybody, and even moreso for Cowboy fans. Let's just hpoe JJ runs back a 99 yard T D like Dorsett did,It was the only time I remember MNF anouncers quiet for 15 min..

By the way Cosell had just said "these Cowboy's think they can score any time they want to" twelve seconds later,TD was in the end zone, It was classic...

Sounds like ABC wants to schedule its hit TV show "Lost" on Mondays before MNF at 9:00. The execs at ABC said they want fans of Lost to continue to be mystified and clueless each week, so now fans can just keep the channel on ABC and tune in the new MNF broadcast crew and perhaps remain clueless for all of primetime Monday evenings. :(

from PFT who I think actually made some good points...surprisingly enuff
---------

Excerpted from the PFT post...

And now that we've dispensed with the "hard" news, allow us to engage in a little speculation and opinionization (probably not even a real word, but it sounds good, like Martinizing). We're completely unimpressed with the network's decision to put Joe Theismann in the booth with Michaels. Theismann has been a fixture on what has become the worst broadcast team covering NFL games, taking hyperbole and sycophancy to unprecedented heights and refusing to say anything remotely controversial or, for that matter, interesting.

Our guess is that Michaels specifically asked for Theismann, because Michaels didn't want to be upstaged and/or overshadowed by an up-and-comer like Steve Young, Michael Irvin, or Mike Golic. Why else would ESPN rush to name Theismann to be Michaels' partner? Indeed, Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald recently reported that Irvin, Young, and Sterling Sharpe were under consideration for a spot in the MNF booth, and that Sharpe had been re-hired to call two games in December with Mike Tirico. The appearance, then, was that the network would wait until after 2005 to name its Monday night lineup for 2006.

Common sense suggests that Michaels didn't want the identity of his partner to be the subject of constant attention, thereby relegating him to the same "second banana" status he assumed when guys like Dennis Miller and John Madden made the leap to ABC.

Still, we think that ESPN blew a great opportunity to re-energize and diversify MNF, opting instead to play it safe. We've got no real quarrel with Michaels, since play-by-play guys aren't really supposed to add anything of substance to the broadcast. But the presence of Theismann, Suzy Kolber, and Michelle Tafoya makes the whole thing feel like an old sweatshirt that has been tucked in the bottom of a basement closet.

It does the job, but it smells a little stale and feels a little itchy.

I think I have gotten used to Michaels, but Theisman still has a lot of room for improvement. They really need to bring some new guys in to the fold. Ex-QB's seem to do the best job for some reason, maybe their understanding of both offensive and defensive schemes. Simms and Esiason are better than Theisman, Aikman also, obviously. There has got to be some fresh talent out there, even Steve Young or Ron Jaworski would be better, at least they understand what is going on. Next thing you know they will add Sean Salisbury to the crew to really make it unbearable.

Does anyone...WG?... know if Woody is going to be doing any games this year? I know he did some for NFLE last year.

Woody is still a rookie to the broadcasting game. More than likely he'll cut his teeth on some radio shows and maybe a couple special NFL spots. I'm thinking it'll be a few years before I'm blessed...I mean... WE are blessed with seeing him on TV regularly... :)

I don't think he'll ease right in like Troy and DJ. That's just my opinion. He may surprise...

I can live with this. Anything is better then obesity marker boy Madden....Even Theisman

you don't have to like someone but it is totaly wrong to make fun of his physical appearance

for ur information the Telestrator and the coach's clicker -- two mainstays of modern football broadcasting -are largely products of Madden's inspiration.

It's not that Madden is some kind of closet geek; he isn't. It's just that he knows what he wants to make a football broadcast more efficient and entertaining.

Well...I guess it could be worse...they could have added McGwire with Joe and Michaels :p:

I know who my MNF team will be next year.

Sham and Babe from the radio with the tv turned all the way down and then muted just to make sure.

Turn down the volume and listen to the game on the radio.

My broadcast team for the MNF Cowboys games will always be the same one that is on the Sunday broadcasts.

Brad and Babe........simply the best in the business.
