Who was it in the pre-season that said something like, you can buy the talent but you can't make them play well together. Something like that... It was basically a jab at Snyder's idea that talent = wins but leaving out the idea that guys have to be able to play together/with each other in order to win.

I hate to say it, but it was either Irvin, Bradshaw or lord help us all, Theismann... somebody in the media said it

That's been said every since the Midget bought that team!

It's never been done the way St. Gibbs and the Midget (or any other coach that they have had for the past 7 or 8 years) is trying to win....

You need to grow a team...not go out and try and buy one...it just don't work...

But, let the RedStinks keep on keeping on...it's fine by me!

:D

I think Snyder drinks from the same trough as Steinbrenner.

Where _ARE_ all those Foreskins fans?

I remember last year when they swept us - I was up to my neck in skin's fans on this board.

Funny how times have changed...

here's what's wrong

Andre Carter~2 sacks, 30 mil

Adam Archuleta~some tackles, 35 mil

Brandon Lloyd~6 catches, one play over 20 yards, 3rd and 5th round pick + huge extension

Randle El~35 mil, negligble impact

TJ Duckett~what? 2 carries? 3rd round pick

no front 4 that isn't even good anymore at plugging gaps to allow the LBs and Dbacks to blitz effectively

Brunell

Gibbs

Snyder

multi-million $ coaching staff

DC has the highest crime rate in the country

I could go on

They should ask the Yankees. It's the same answer.

Spending $$$ necessarily equate to wins on the field.

at least the Yanks pay for top-quality players

I will tell you what is wrong with the Skins: there is no dedication to the run. Giving CP the ball 14 times against one of the worst run D's in the league is absolutely pathetic.

I honestly think that is what you get when you pay an OC a ******** amount of money - a guy who thinks he needs to "outsmart" everyone.

Any old OC could just run on the hapless Titans, so he's gotta pass on them.

Either way, it was unforgivable.

No, they don't.

And this is coming from a Yankee fan.

Steinbrenner and Danny are two peas in a pod. Pay for the name, not the performance. Danny is probably worse, as Goerge has started to listen to Cashman more the past couple of years, but guys like Randy Johnson, Wright, Pavano, etc have shown a Commander like quality of paying gobs of money because they are a name.

Sorry for the baseball instrusion, I'm still bitter is all :)

I glad Jerry got outof that name game phase he was in and stopped thinking we were 1 player away from a 4th super bowl 5 years after our last one. Unfortunately until they hit cap hell like we did and the 49ers did they won't learn but they will be very talented when they come out of it top 5 picks 5 years in row go a long way in rebuilding a team usually.

They'll just have to wait until next season to draft him with their high first round...oh, wait. Nevermind.
It's incredibly unlikely that we'll have to swap our first round pick with Denver.

I think the reason why you don't see many skins fans on here debating this thread is because, we don't know what is wrong either. It is unexplainable, last year we were a very good team, with an outstanding defense. This year, our defense can't stop anyone, you can immediately point to our secondary, but we can't stop the run either, so it is hard to say exactly what is wrong with our D. You would think we would have improved this year, but we have done a complete 180, and look completely lost at times.

Brunell is looking older, and has been very inconsistant, along with the rest of our entire offense, and the sad thing is, he is our best chance of winning this year. We really do need to run the ball more, that seems to be where we need to start, and also take more shots downfield. Our o-line has played well, and Brunell needs to calm down, he looks scared at times, even when there is no pressure at all.

My personal opinion is that I believe it is our team chemistry, last year they were a bunch of blue collar, hard working, unselfish players, that fought hard to make it as far as they did, but when you bring in big names with their new big contracts onto a team that really didn't need all of those guys, it causes a change of attitude this team did not want or need. Also, getting rid of Ryan Clark made a bigger impact than most think. He was a good locker room guy and brought alot of toughness to our secondary. The chemistry is all off, and I believe that is what is causing the inconsistancy. Hopefully Coach Gibbs can right this ship, and get these guys to play together, if anyone can do it, he can.

cowboyfreak, you have to give the devil his due. Your photo signature of McNabb, albeit humorous is inaccurate and unjustified this season. Overall the dude is quarterbacking very effectively. Sad to state, that if anything, your photo sig could apply to Bledsoe.

I've been watching the skins and their offense doesnt seem to be the problem. Mark Brunell isnt their future but he's not playing as bad as people think.

what I do notice with open eyes is how bad their defense has been playing. That defense is just complete and utter crap.

dont blame the o, put their downfall on the D.

easiest question in the nfl.and the answer is daniel snyder.he shot for the moon and mortgaged the future on a bunch of guys who had really never did alll that he is paying them for. brunnell is not 25 anymore, their wr's are average at best other than moss and moss is a one deminsional player.portis is good but when you can't pass more than 3 yds it's hard to run. he has too many super star coaches and not enough super star players. i still say you can have the best coaches in the league and they won't make a single play for you. coaches are important but the players are the most important

In the end Snyder is to blame.

Not only does he overpay for players that more times than not do not pan out to well for them, but he also let's players they have groomed go to other teams in cap saving moves.

One other thing that I think is very important to the problems of the skins.

You will notice an almost yearly up and down trend with them on at least one side of the ball.

I remember one year they had a pretty good offense but the defense stuck.

So Danny goes out and signs Deion and Bruce Smith and I think at the same time gets another DC.

Well when the D was addressed in that off season the Offense struggled.

It seems Marty was on the overall right track IMO, yes I know marty is conservative and does not have a great post season record, but IMO he was on the right track but the idea that he would not listen to danny and refused to give up some control meant his time was short.

So what happens, they go for another system to put more Offense on the board...Steve Spurrier, what a terrible coach for the skins. That guy was just a disgrace.

So they bring back Joe. The defense is good under gregg but the offense struggles. So instead of working out some of the kinks in the offense they decide to get another OC in with yet ANOTHER system to learn.

This team has lacked consistency for many reason. Changes in players, changes in coaches and changes in systems.

How can a team like the skins expect to make improvements if they keep changing things every year or every other year.
