Woohoo!! got a question answered...
I'll add any as necessary.
-----------
David (Chantilly, Va): Mort, you were at the Commanders/Cowboys game on Monday night. Do the Commanders have what it takes to pick it up on offense and make the playoffs?
Chris Mortensen: (11:08 AM ET ) They might. If they can keep Brunell from getting hit too much, he still has plenty of arm and savvy to win. Santana Moss must stay healthy....and you're always in the game with that defense. It will be tight for them because the offense has its limits.
Michelle (Houston): Hey Mort, what do you think of Julian Peterson's guarantee over the Cowboys? Bravado or a motivational tool after the loss to the Eagles
Chris Mortensen: (11:17 AM ET ) It's one the dumbest things I've heard in a while. I'm not big on the meaning of those "guarantees." On Sunday, it will mean absolutely nothing. But what it might do is on a day like today when the Cowboys still could be moping from what happened Monday night, it might get their attention and focus up for their preparations for the 49ers. I'm sure Mike Nolan isn't happy with Peterson.
Brian (Philly): After watching Roy Williams get burned again, and the player formerly known as Darren Sharper miss tackles all over the place, can we now say that Brian Dawkins is the most dominate safety of the last decade. I say yes over Rodney Harrison due to his versatility. Your thoughts?
Chris Mortensen: (11:52 AM ET ) I'd have a hard time arguing with you on that one. Dawkins might be one of the 10 best players in football, certainly along the elite.
d (st. louis): Isnt Ed Reed the best safety in football?
Chris Mortensen: (11:52 AM ET ) Ed Reed makes more big plays than any safety but he still makes too many mental errors because of his aggressiveness.
Tim (San Diego): Mort, I'm genuinely puzzled. Is it not newsworthy that Dallas and Denver have been able to shut down LT and the Charger offense with thier blitzing schemes. Is it also not newsworthy that Cameron to this point has not been able to make effective adjustments? Why the cold shoulder? Why won't you select a Charger question to address?
Chris Mortensen: (11:56 AM ET ) I think that's always a great thing about the NFL - teams with capable defenses (like dallas and Denver) can usually take away or limit one element of an offense, even a great player like Ladainian Tomlinson. That's why it is crucial that Drew Brees repeat his Pro Bowl year. Cool your heels a bit and let's see how this plays out. The Chargers do have a tough road.
Sonny (Dallas): Mort, any guess on how long Bill Parcells will be around - he's really looking old these days..and games like monday night can't be too good for someone his age.
Chris Mortensen: (11:58 AM ET ) Well, if heas more games like Monday night, I'll almost guarantee it'll make him physically ill. But Parcells likes this team and I think he's excited about its potential over the next couple of years.
I'll add any as necessary.
