They are managing the rookie. Downfield passes will come when teams stack the box to stop the run. You want Dak throwing them or gimp back Romo? (Sorry, Tony--I love you man).

The just plug Romo in people aren't taking what Dak is doing well into consideration. Further what Dak IS NOT doing. He's playing strong. There is an emotional chemistry to the game that just doesn't go on paper. With each passing game, Dak is placing his imprint on not just the offense but the TEAM. When you discuss the team now...it's not woah is me with key injuries. It doesn't feel like "an accident waiting to happen"....It feels like a smart team. A youthful exuberant athletic team that pounds the rock and plays to it strengths. A team that's not beating ourselves. This doesn't mean anything negative towards Romo. It means because he's unable to stay on the field....we've taken on a new identity in his absence. An identity that's morphing and snowballing outside of Romo's controll. There's only so many times you can hold the team hostage with injury. I just want what's best for the team.

If dak beats Cincinnati and GB back to back I'm willing to bet romo is dressing as the backup for that Sunday night game against the eagles

I'm actually looking forward to Romo's return. I'm not saying this to be snarky, but it will be a relief to watch Tony play knowing there's a viable option in case he doesn't get up again after a big hit.

We have our future QB, so why not give Romo one last shot at glory? If he stinks it up, just go with Dak again. This is a good situation, not a bad one.

Because it's not about Romo riding out into the sunset...

I appreciate everything he's done for this team, but Dak has already established himself as a leader of this team and most importantly, they're winning...why mess with that?

As long as he's 100% healthy when he comes back, then I for one will be happy when Romo returns... If he gets hurt or stinks it up, then we still have Dak who has shown he's at least capable of winning against scrubby teams... Dak has been good so far, but it's obvious to me that he doesn't throw it as good as Romo... I saw Dak miss on numerous throws today that Romo definitely doesn't miss on... Dak is 3-1, but Romo also won with this team, going 16-6 with Romo since 2014, including a playoff win, of which Dak has none... Romo might be done, but he deserves the chance to show it either way.

Let's see how Dak does now that he's going to face his best defense yet next weekend.

I am leaning towards letting Dak start that Eagles game. Romo always seems rusty when coming off a longer time off and that Eagles front seven can get after the QB and he's going to get hit, a lot, even with our OL.

If Dak continues to look great the next two games, I think I give him the nod against Philly and then bring Romo back against the Browns. If Dak looks shaky the next two weeks, then the decision to go to Romo is easier IMO.

Agreed.

Tony needs to either start 1 week before the bye or after the philly game.

He's a beast but I dont want his first game back against that philly team right now.

We should have destroyed the 49ers today and I think Romo does that by making better reads and throws than Dak did on several occasions. Dak still has a lot to learn. I would've liked to see Dak throw it away instead of taking sacks. Granted Romo doesn't throw it away but at least he will sling it downfield. Dak doesn't have that ability or instinct.

Dak made some good throws today but he also made some average and bad ones where he was bailed out by receivers. High throws, threw behind receivers, etc on several occasions. I see what the stats say but that's not what the game says.

Anybody who says start Dak is a prisoner of the moment and not watching every snap or watching the receivers. If you want to win this season, start Romo when he's healthy.

If you don't care about trying to win it all this year and want to focus only on the future, roll with Dak. I think he is going to be exposed down the stretch in crucial moments this season. He's had great luck mixed with a lot of skill but luck runs out.

If you prefer Romo to Prescott, that's understandable. I'm 50/50 myself.

But to say Prescott has been lucky is absolutely absurd, and belies 4 games of proof, 1 of which was a game he lost- was he exposed in that game? It was his first NFL start. That's when people are usually exposed. However he was a few yards from an opportunity to win that ballgame as well vs a team that spent $80 million dollars in star defensive personnel.

It's a bad situation if the Cowboys are a better football team with Dak under center. For many tangible and intangible reasons. The first prioritiy for an NFL Franchise is to win football games. If it's not, that is a monumental failure at all levels. If Prescott is 6-1 or 5-2 when Romo is ready, you play Prescott until playoff chase hopes are falling correspondng with the team's level of play.

But Dak is winning... and it isn't just luck...why are people so absurd about trying to discredit Dak and the success he's had? Are you Cowboys fans or Tony Romo fans?

Do you really think this team is a Super Bowl contender this year with or without Tony Romo?

Dak not slinging it downfield (which you would like to see) has resulted in ZERO interceptions. Tony Romo would have almost certainly thrown a pick or two by this point.

The inability to push the ball down the field is going to bite Dak eventually. It's easier to take care of the ball in the league when you have a great running game and a slot receiver playing like #11.

You're saying the bad throw to Witten/Beasley that hit the corner in the hands today not being a pick wasn't luck? There have been a few plays like that.

I'm a Cowboys fan but I also believe in loyalty. It's dumb to suggest a guy lose his job because he got hurt instead of performance. Romo has given a lot to the team and deserves that same respect. The team is also a better team with him under center because he can make throws Dak cannot right now. He can make reads Dak cannot right now. He can also push the ball downfield more often if need be.

We have the future in Dak and that's awesome to have that...but he's a backup QB. His place is the bench when Romo is healthy.

He would also have 10 touchdowns, and you would have been spared the late game indigestion from weeks 1,2 and 4...

Dak's been awsome but with a healthy Romo, at least the 2014 version, this offense could be the best in the NFL. We could do what the Steelers are doing tonight.
Romo deserves the chance to return so we can see him with this Oline, Zeke and Dez, if he somehow struggles I wouldn't mind going back to Dak but you have to give him the chance, he deserves that much.

Romo hasn't played in a while and the last time he did he threw bad picks and left the field in agony. I think its questionable at this point the extent to which he can push the ball downfield effectively, at least not without a few games to shake off the rust.

lol. Tony Romo is completely finished as a top NFL QB. If he comes back it will be for a short time and he will quickly disappear. Prescott has taken his job permanently. Prescott is already a much more skilled technical QB than Romo and Tony knows it. On the sidelines Romo offers Prescott no advice and practically ignores him. Romo is finished...this was the last year of guaranteed money and that means, in fact, its Tony's last year.
