Well at least he moved on from Brady Quinn! :)

There just isn't any evidence that we would be better off with Terrell Owens on the squad, especially given that he is struggling in Buffalo.

Of course, the only evidence I have that we wouldn't be is that we didn't make the Playoffs last year.

Man, when ever anyone says a player needs to be like they used to (i.e, the 'old' tony romo), it's usually a really bad sign for the present, and most often, a bad sign for things to come as well.

I remember when Emmitt had obviously lost something, and everytime he had a good game, people would say, 'he looks like the old emmitt smith' or something like that. When really, everyone knew he had lost it.

It's a phrase that I personally hate to hear...Not saying that Romo's lost it yet or anything, I just think it has very negative implications

I think Jones is just giving Romo a vote of confidence publicly.

Yeah, probably. I'm probably reading too much into it.

But if it becomes widespread with fans and media, then that's usually when the trouble starts

I think Romo is just trying to do some things that will help him improve as a QB in the long haul. He just needs to work his way through it and I for think he will.

Well then you should have kept TO for at least one more year instead of leaving your QB out to the vultures. The Romo friendly offense you created is offensive. I know you had Felix in your plans Jerry but you have dont have a legit down field threat on the team. NFC East Defensive Coordinators rejoiced when you cut TO and other teams just dont respect your team.

Cant wait to hear an opposing "player" quote and not a "fan" quote, that this team just isn't that good without him. Even my wife recognize that this offense is "lackluster" w/o a deep threat. Thats just sad.

You obviously just read into the buzzwords and sports media talking points as opposed to coming up with any original analysis.

"deep threat"

"stretch the field"

"speed burner"

"Terrell Owens"

new material, please.

As long as Romo keeps both hands on the ball in the pocket, he can fling it wherever he wants.

I really think Garrett needs to have a meeting with him where he says, "Look forget what we told you about being protective. Go out there and sling it"

Romo needs his confidence back. And he's not going to get it by worrying about protecting the ball. Just go play football.

I still dont get how anyone can think Romo can be the "romo of old", when he doesnt have the WR to throw too that inflated his stats for three years.

He sure is making Trent Edwards look like a pro bowler.

Agree wholeheartedly. And then Romo should have a meeting with his WRs in which he says "hey guys, I'm going to go out there and fling it around, so just run around." It seems like when Romo runs out of the pocket, and our receivers run their scramble drills, good things happen. Then we get their defense on their heels and thats when we tear off big runs.

That's because when Romo and the receivers improvise the defense doesn't know what play is coming  . Someone had to say it.

this is very true most of romos big plays are where it is a busted play.

maybe a play where he fumbls the ball picks it up and then throws a bomb?

I think too much is being made of Jerry's comments and in Tony's play.

Jerry is not saying anything that isn't already known by those most important: the opposition. Romo is played to create containment and not allow his creative plays. Romo is one of those QBs who throws better on the move. He has the ability to feel and elude pressure. Teams aren't going to get to him nearly as often when he can escape the pocket. That's why he's funneled in and blitzes are coming so frequently esp from the middle.

And you can't just role out all the time. You're are cutting the field down dramatically when you do that. It's good some of the time just not too frequently. Too much loss of symmetry and balance.

This is not something new. We're just seeing more of the disciplined Tony than we've seen in the past. Tony has always had problems knowing when and where to be the creative Tony. Perhaps the pendulum has swung too far in the conservative direction. Tony needs to find that fine line. But tha's nothing knew and it certainly isn't some secret that opposing teams don't know.

Problem is protect the ball Romo has 4 int's and a fumble lost. It appears Romo is not elite QB status, when he is trying to stand tall in the pocket every play. I believe he needs to improvise to find lanes to throw in, otherwise he struggles to deliver the ball consistently.

Although I disagree with your assesment of Romo not being elite, I do agree with you that Romo is not a classic pocket passer.

Romo is best when he is scrambling, throwing across the field, buying time with his legs, ect....At one point, Romo had the highest QB rating in the league outside of the pocket.

So what does our genius OC do??? He takes our gunslinger QB and tries to turn him into a classic pocket passer. It is like trying to fit a peg into a round hole, it is not going to work.

Garrett is a freaking ******.

Sounds to me that Jerry is calling out Garrett.

Jerry is basically saying what most of us fans have realized already, that this ball control conservative crap is not working.

Jerry needs to go kick Garrett in the arse and tell Romo to forget everything that ****** ever said. Jerry needs to tell Romo to just go out there and pretend it is sandlot ball and run around and make plays.

Will this lead to increased turnovers??? Hell yes it will, but it will also lead to alot more TDs then this crap offense we are running now.
