It's called our front office having no talent. It is the biggest and most public display of corporate nepotism on the planet.

Philly's done a great job with Howie and managed to build two contenders in the last 4 years with what looked like a completely depleted roster and busted cap.
Cincy is wired the same way. Yet they been to a SB and may go to another this year. It can be done. Just not the norm.

I see 0 way the birds lose to the Gents. It would have to be an epic collapse. I mean you may see EVERYONE FIRED in the front office and coaching staff if that happened. But I would relish it.

I think the Giants might actually beat them. I am not anticipating a blowout.

NY is peaking right now while Philly limped into the playoffs and barely beat the Giants' backups in Week 18 with the #1 seed on the line. The NFL is a week to week league so I don't look too much into it, but it certainly counts for something.

The Eagles sell out to win now while they have a rookie contract QB.

They basically ruined Wentz by crushing the salary cap to win their first Lombardi.
He has a monster year and they had the best OL in football.
Then they had to re-tool and were stuck paying aging guys massive numbers.
Now they are doing the same to Hurts.
The gamble paid off first time around with a ring.
Will it this time??

The Eagles have like 8 starters hitting UFA and that doesn't cover any extension for Jalen Hurts.
Both lines will be decimated by free agency.
They have 9M in cap space.

The big wins have been hitting on Hurts in draft, getting so much return for damaged goods in Wentz, and frankly just really good luck with injuries to an older roster being so minimal.

If you can identify QBs in the draft and are willing to go all in, you too can win.

And all that work will go down the drain this saturday night when Daniel Jones and S. Barkley run all over them and kick them out of the playoffs.

The Eagles roster building strategy reminds me of a "rob peter to pay paul" strategy, but somehow they're always making it work.

The Cowboys strategy reminds me of someone who budgets well, pays bills on time, but ultimately is still always broke.
ironically it's because they acquire qb's that don't work out but can still command a premium. ie bradford / wentz

It almost feels like the rest of the league keeps bailing them out of their bad choices

edit: I can totally seeing Hurts returning to a lower level of play as he inevitably stops running as much and his supporting casts weakens, and the Eagles flip him for a 1st and 3rd.

Agreed.

Philadelphia doesn’t draft nearly as well as we do. They have a lot more notable misses. But they definitely rebound from those misses via an outstanding pro personnel department. And they’re successfully aggressive in trades and free agency.
They are one of the best in the business acquiring Talent via fa and the trade market. Wish the Cowboys would be more aggressive in those areas.

Agreed.

But in their defense, I believe the Cowboys have gotten better in that area.

Having said that, I can’t help but to feel it’s mainly due to the influence of the defensive coaches rather than pro personnel scouting.

Howie can’t draft all that well, hence why they have so many busts, when one thing he is the undisputed master at is bamboozling other GM’s into trading high round picks for the eagles’ garbage. It’s unreal what he has gotten away with. This has given him several bites at the apple and eventually they do end up with some good players through the draft. His other strength is free agency where he does have a keen eye for picking the right players for the system. Free agency also has plenty of examples of players not working out but Howie’s biggest acquisitions have all been big success’.

Ain't going to lie, this makes me sick to the stomach. But at some point, he's going to have all that talent. I'm guessing he's looking at a 2-3 year window.

How Eagles GM Howie Roseman built the best roster in the NFL

WHILE CHATTING WITH players and coaches before a November matchup against the Texans, Howie Roseman, Philadelphia Eagles GM and executive vice president, spotted a group of Eagles fans in the first row of Houston's NRG Stadium.

The fans began chanting his name. Roseman, with noticeable swagger, walked slowly toward them, making a beeline for one fan in particular, a man wearing a Phillies jersey who was holding up a hand-drawn, poster board sign.

"Howie You Are Forgiven!" the top half of the sign read. On the bottom half, the name of Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, acquired in a trade by Roseman during the offseason, loomed large over the deleted names of previous Eagles wide receivers: Nelson Agholor, J.J.-Arcega Whiteside and Jalen Reagor. All Roseman draft acquisitions; all no longer with the team; and all universally regarded as bust
This is a Cowboys forum. Screw the Eagirls.

So if Philly loses this weekend or doesn't make it to the Super Bowl then what?
I'd love to see the Giants pull off that upset but unfortunately, I ain't seeing it. At some point, I think Jones comes back to earth a bit.

The dude has it going on. He is backed by Lurie so he comes up with awesome ideas to get rid of bad deals and trade bad players. What I like about them is they don’t sit on mistakes. They fix them. We got a 5th for a good player with a hefty contract. He would have gotten a 2nd IMO….even with the contract. Because he wouldn’t announce it to the world a head of time……
Howie Roseman is in league with Satan. How he gets other GM’s to take his trash is beyond me.

The thing is none of those starters are on the O-line. They always have a chance because somehow they seem to always have the trenches covered. I guarantee that they are already looking ahead for when Johnson retires in a few years.

Just funny how things happen in the NFL sometimes. For example, Hurts was not drafted to replace Wentz. Hell, in fact as of just 2020, there were rumblings that they were going after Watson.

One I give credit for, he's NOT afraid of mistakes.
Yep they lucked into Hurts. His running ability is the thing that makes their offense scary to me because we don't usually do well with running QB's. AJ Brown was a great move by them I will give them that but a stupid move by Tenn and cost them the playoffs.

No, he can’t draft certain positions well, in particular WR and LB. He drafted four of their five starting O-line, QB, TE, and starting RB. That’s not bad.
