ESPN Insider Rumors: Potential shocker of Boldin to 'Boys?

I liken the Roy Williams trade as the equivelant to a very irresponsible impulse buy.

I don't think we'll make a play for Bouldin.

If the Roy Williams trade works out for this year then horay. I think next year there are far better WR prospects (Da Williams, A Benn, D Bryant) in reference to draft day prospects.

who's been buying the cool aid in here ?

Choice, Martellous Bennett and a 2nd round pick > Anquan Boldin ?

really.. ? REALLY ?
Nope I am perfectly sane. It has already been said that we are moving to a more run-oriented offense and that we will use all three running backs like the Giants did, so why would we give up a great young RB that has produced against the leagues best run defenses, a great pass blocking TE that works great off of play action and is a threat in the endzone, and a 2nd round pick for a WR that probably won't get many opportunities? It's just not good business. The object is to get the running game going and then spread the ball evenly through the passing game. We don't need a Boldin for that. We have our possession receiver (Williams), our slot receiver (Crayton), and our speed receiver (Austin), plus the best TE in the league (Witten). Felix/Barber/Choice are there for dump offs and screens. Boldin would be a nice luxury, but he will not be needed for this offense.

Now if we are talking Williams for Boldin straight up, then I'm all over that one.

This is a joke. I can't see how we could possibly outbid a team like the Eagles, who have two first rounders at their disposal. Also, if we got rid of TO so that Roy could "bloom," how would adding a star like Boldin make any sense?

Sorry , but Choice was much more impressive than Bennett. Bennett was a 2nd TE producing on a team that had Witten and TO.

Choice produced against some of the best defenses in the NFL as a rookie.

Keep Choice for sure - he is a workhorse!

choice has 92 career carries and he is now a workhorse???

Remember against the Ravens and Steelers, two of the best running defenses in the league, he was basically the only RB we had yet put up great numbers and was considered the MVP for the Cowboys during both games.

Trade WR Roy Williams straight-up for Boldin. If you were Jerry Jones and had that offer extended to you from AZ, would you make that trade?

The cap won't allow it, but if it did, you'd be crazy to turn it down.

Because you can find half a dozen of them just about every year.

Ou contraire, mon ami.

Boldin makes life easier for RW, easier for Witten, easier for the running game and next to Jessica Simpson, a delight for Romo. He's a true posession receiver with absolutely fantastic hands and unquestionable toughness.

Think Michael Irvin on steroids.

That's a VERY valid argument and, believe me, I'd take that scenario too. However, when an opportunity to obtain a player like Bolden presents itself ( and I'm not saying this is the case, mind you ), you take it.

Bolden's problem ( unlike T.O. ) is not the catches, or the yardage, or the distrubution of passes. His problem is MONEY and Jarrah has plenty of it.

If the Cards are stupid enough to fall for a package like that ( and they're not ), you have to be crazy not to take it.

Some Cowboys fans would be wanting to add a star WR if they had Micheal Irvin and Jerry Rice on the same team.

WRs are overrated, imo. You need two or three good ones, but the Patriots won three Super Bowls without a star at WR.

Boldin isn't better than Roy Williams. If you go back and look at their YPA, the players are very similar. However, Williams proved he could be a number 1 WR, by posting a # 1 YPA against some of the NFL's better corners in 2006. Boldin hasn't had a season like Williams' 2006 season, in terms of YPA against "Red" corners.

Chad Johnson was the guy that stood out among Williams and Boldin. He's older, so Dallas went with Williams' potential. Plus, the Bengals wouldn't trade Johnson.

There is no way, at all, that I'd put together a package that included Choice and Bennett for Boldin or any other WR in the NFL. Forget that noise.

I wouldn't do that trade either... but I wouldn't exactly say no to any other WR in the nfl with Fitzgerald in mind minus his contract :)

With Jerry involved, I would never say never.

I could see him trading Choice RB, Bennett TE, and 2nd in 2010 for Boldin.

Two of Arizona's key needs are RB and TE (pass catching). Both guys would start for Arizona this year.

Don't put it past Jerry.

Hell I wouldnt trade Choice straight up for him, he's our best rb IMO. And who would be our back up TE? Curtis? Hannah? A unproven rookie?

Exactly.

And Jerry Jones never said any of that as a reason to release TO. It was to get the younger WR's involved, which is a load of crap.

TO was cut because we're focusing on the run, which would have caused problems with him, and we wanted Romo to get back to his quick reads and throwing to who was open.

We have enough talent on offense right now that we dont need another WR that expects 80-100 catches per year if healthy.

You don't know the eagles franchise very well. They have no concept of the term "mutually beneficial exchange". They won't do a trade and offer a contract that they are not convinced is a steal.

It's just how they operate.

Boldin is a perfect fit for them. He'd help them as much or more than any other team.

But it will never happen. Too many interested parties. They never let themselves get caught in a bidding war.

Yes, like Dallas was able to find Darren Hambrick, Aveion Cason, Tyson Thompson, and a bunch of other near talentless hacks between the time E. Smith went away and MBIII came to town.

Yes, except it took Dallas 7 or 8 years to finally find a replacement for Jay Novacek.

You are really out of control with this one. Boldin is good, but come on. Even Boldin would chuckle at that description.

if I'm the Cardinals, I'm paying him. They are two lost players away from another 4-12 season if Warner retires after this season and they don't have Boldin.

LMAO.

You're talking like MBIII is the next step in the progression of significant Dallas running backs. I really do like MBIII (as I do anyone who contributes to our success), but the guy is a complimentary back. Guess who else was an effective compliemntary back? Troy Hambrick. Not that he was as good as MBII is currently, but they're in the same category.
