LMAO.

You're talking like MBIII is the next step in the progression of significant Dallas running backs. I really do like MBIII (as I do anyone who contributes to our success), but the guy is a complimentary back. Guess who else was an effective compliemntary back? Troy Hambrick. Not that he was as good as MBII is currently, but they're in the same category.

Not really.

Source: Ravens want Boldin (It would likely cost first- and third-round picks to acquire Cardinals WR)

By Jamison Hensley 9:34 PM EDT, April 16, 2009
In a move that could drastically change this year's NFL draft, the Ravens have expressed interest in acquiring wide receiver Anquan Boldin from the Arizona Cardinals, a league source confirmed Thursday.

It would likely take a first- and a third-round draft pick to acquire Boldin, who had 89 catches for 1,038 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.

This is the third time in five years the Ravens have considered trading for a wide receiver. Their trade for Terrell Owens in 2004 was rescinded, and the team failed to complete a deal for Randy Moss in 2005.

Asked whether the Ravens have contacted the Cardinals about Boldin, general manager Ozzie Newsome said Thursday: "With the draft coming up, I've had a chance to talk to eight different teams over the past 48 hours."

Boldin, 28, would be attractive to the Ravens because they couldn't draft a proven receiver like him with the 26th overall pick.

The receivers who are expected to be available near the bottom of the first round -- Maryland's Darrius Heyward-Bey, Florida's Percy Harvin, North Carolina's Hakeem Nicks and Rutgers' Kenny Britt -- would need a couple of years before being as polished as Boldin.

In six NFL seasons, Boldin has 83.7 catches per season and 81.2 receiving yards per game. Last season, he caught a career-high 11 touchdown passes -- one more than the entire Ravens group combined .

The addition of Boldin, 6 feet 1, 217 pounds, would also provide stability to the Ravens' wide receivers. Their top three -- Derrick Mason, Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams -- are scheduled to become free agents at the end of the 2009 season.

Boldin has two years remaining on a six-year, $33.99 million deal, but he is seeking a new contract. He became dissatisfied with Arizona after the team signed receiver Larry Fitzgerald to a contract (four years, $40 million) that nearly doubled Boldin's average annual salary.

He expressed his unhappiness with the Cardinals publicly, from fuming about his contract during the summer to arguing with then-offensive coordinator Todd Haley on the sideline during the NFC championship game.

The other teams that could pursue Boldin are the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and New York Jets, according to ESPN.

On the Michael Irvin's Dallas radio show on Thursday, Boldin talked about the possibility of being traded, saying: "I just want to get it resolved. It's been going on way too long." He later added: "It would hurt, but at the same time, change is necessary. My only problem has been management, always has been."

Arizona essentially made Boldin available via trade Wednesday.

"Before the draft, you know there is going to be talk about Anquan and his situation and a trade," Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "Since not a whole lot has changed with his contractual situation, we know that will come back. It would be foolish from our standpoint not to listen to those opportunities and see what actually exists. But I want to make the point -- our goal is to re-sign him to a long-term deal. That hasn't changed."

This is fine by me, keep him away from the Eagles and out of the NFC East.

My youngest brother is a diehard philly fan, lord knows why, but I love having the power card over him when it comes to a ****ed up front office that can't seem to solve one of their biggest problems year n and year out. Let them keep wasting away McFlabby.....:D

Remember against the Ravens and Steelers, two of the best running defenses in the league, he was basically the only RB we had yet put up great numbers and was considered the MVP for the Cowboys during both games.

Exactly, you can't discount those performances at all. They were very impressive IMO. I am not sure he could do that all year if he had too, but he won't have to with the Cowboys. IMO Barber will finish out his next contract with the Cowboys about the same time Choice will be coming off his rookie contract. If we split carries Choice will be next in line after Barber.

Just curious as to why you think he will end up in Dallas?

Sorry it took so long to respond; I'm on four other MBs. I think that Dallas needs someone other than Roy Williams to complete this receiving corp. Someone like Blodin will either emerge as a number one or compliment Roy Williams as the second receiver.

That''s all I'm saying.

I can't help but laugh at people that try and claim you can find a dozen Choices and Bennett's in the draft every year, that do what those guys can do. That must be why every single team in the league has at least 2 guys like them that are just as good, or better.

Oh wait...no they don't.

I still wont do that trade at all if it was me... I just feel that in order to get a youth movement on your roster you have draft and let that talent develop... Choice and Bennett have real potential.

Yes Boldin has done some awesome things in his short career and he is still young, but he does have some wear on his tires. He will also want to get paid lots...

Last year alone, this guys:

Matt Forte ( 2nd round )
Ray Rice ( 2nd round )
Kevin Smith ( 3rd round )
Steve Slaton ( 3rd round )
Tashard Choice ( 4th round )
Tim Hightower ( 5th round )

Made at least a significant impact with their respective teams. There are about 4 or 5 more who contributed well enough to remain on the roster for at least one more season. And that's without counting the 1st round players.

Yes, except it took Dallas 7 or 8 years to finally find a replacement for Jay Novacek.

Since when is Martellous Benett good enough to be considered another Jay Novacek ? Where the heck are you getting that from ?

You are really out of control with this one. Boldin is good, but come on. Even Boldin would chuckle at that description.

Is that so ? Boldin is bigger and stronger than Irvin was. He catches passes every where on the field ( but his speciality is over the middle ) and unless you've been living under a rock for the past 4 years or so, nobody can question his toughness.

Exactly where is that description wrong ?

The more and more I think about this....the more I want Boldin on this team. Package a few picks, get another team involved, and make it happen.

Yes, I'm 33 years old but can still dream like a kid. :laugh2:

Count Giants Out Of Sweepstakes For Boldin, Not Worth Asking Price..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Giants GM Jerry Reese played down his team's interest in Anquan Boldin Thursday.
Regarding the reported asking price of first- and third-round draft picks, Reese said "I don't know if that's the best thing for us to do." Reese pointed to Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, and Calvin Johnson as receivers that would be worth the price, but he implied that Boldin would not be.
