People forget how cowher did with a team that is known for not investing long term in many of their star players over the years.

Yet he kept that team in the hunt most of the time he was there.

He did the best with what he had from a Front Office that was constantly letting good players go and they would have to plug in another player into the system and still do well.

Plus you can tell he loves the game.

I still love the game/time when the Refs called a penalty on the Steelers just before the half. They said that the Steelers had 12 men on the field. Cowher argued with the official saying they did NOT.

As the time ran out and the teams were heading towards the locker room cowher ran up to the official. Stuffed something in the officials pocket and went on with his team to the locker room.

That thing he stuffed in the officials pocket was those print outs of the plays they have on the sidelines that showed that the official was wrong because the steelers did not have 12 men on the field.

well this started because mortensen said the browns are going to clean house pretty much anything short of the playoffs and that cowher would be the guy to return to the home of his first job in cleveland. I think many are missing that.

wouldnt surprise me at all if wade phillips is only brought in for 1 year and we go after cowher... phillips and jones are friends so it wouldnt surprise me if they had some kind of agreement that if jones can get cowher next year that phillips would step down

I agree. Wade Phillips is here to do a job not be a stop gap for Cowher. If Phillips proves he can get the job done then I expect Wade to be here for a while. I would also add unless this team has a total meltdown this upcoming season Wade will be here more than just 1 season.

If Wade gets fired after 1 season it will be because this team had a meltdown. If Wade gets this team into the playoffs and makes noise in the playoffs I doubt seriously that Wade will get fired.

Cowher is likely to go to the highest bidder that will support him well and definitely better than the Steelers did. The Steelers gave him less than maximum support and he still did a very good job.
