AP never plays in the preseason.

ESPN reporting Dez and Martin not playing. No mention of Romo not playing.

that is why starters see little action as is but often even that is predicated on any issues the starter may be having and for QB what kind of protection can you give him?

Starters see little action but they see some and no team is going to enter the regular season with their starting QB only receiving 3 snaps in the second preseason game. Haven't checked but Romo may have seen more action in preseason last year.

I'm fine either way, but I'll be really surprised if Romo doesn't play at all on Saturday.
He badly wants to get out there.
He's gonna play.....IMO

Dez, on the other hand......
These are different situations. Let the hammy fully heal.

I hope he does play. But, at the first sign of trouble, pull him out of there.

During preseason games most teams don't game-plan unless it's against the Cowboys. Beating the Cowboys in preseason gives other teams some confidence...but, when the games count, Romo and the starters know where they are and what they have to do. Not some couch bum who thinks how the team should be run.

yes if they are healthy enough. I said I think Romo will play I would not put him out if 3 OL players are missing because he does not need the practice of getting hit. I suspect all 3 OL who have been out will be in the game but I would not sit there and allow Romo to take un-needed hits over 1 qrt of play. As for the reps he has with his WR I have no doubt they have timing with each other. I fully expect those who are not dealing with injury to be out there but would never risk a player if I don't have too. None of them are trying to make the team

Well, the team has one more game of pre-season after this game. They have been working hard everyday in camp and now they get to go home and rest and relax with their families. Maybe the last pre-season game they will roll out the team.

I mean hell, cut downs have not even been done yet!

Naturally you don't put Romo behind a make-shift OL but most of our OL should be intact.

That's not enough work to get a QB ready for the opener. Although Romo isn't dealing with the things he did this time last season he still needs preseason action to be game sharp. If the running struggles more will be put on Romo's plate and if he's off the Cowboys could end up struggling out of the blocks.

Tony has been in the league long enough, that half a quarter of preseason isn't going to make him any more Sharper, than he'd already be at the start of the season.

The point I'm making is 3 snaps in preseason isn't going to have Romo sharp for the opener. You can't have him go 3 weeks without playing a game then suit him up for the opener and expect a solid rust free performance.

Even if Romo played the first 2 series that pales in comparison to the full team drills he ran in camp. He'll be ready. We have bigger concerns.

Todd Archer said he was told that Dez left practice just to rest him.

Good about tomorrow. Hold Dez out for the games that count.

Probably him and Romo might be the only guys I'd feel that way about.

You said it hold DEZ out till the real deal starts, don't need any more injuries.

Don't be surprised if he plays much longer than that.
Wouldn't surprise me if he plays nearly a full half....like last year.

If running full team drills is all a QB needs to be ready and sharp for the regular season then why do teams risk their starting QB's during preseason for even a series? Why did the Cowboys risk Romo last preseason after coming off back surgery when he still wasn't totally healthy if full team drills would have had him sharp for the regular season? Why did Philly risk Bradford for a series last week with the injury concerns they have with him if full team drills would be sufficient in having him ready for the regular season?

Not real concerned with Romo playing or not. I am worried about the offense as a whole, the starters have not really played at all. The ones who did, was a series at most.

Would love to see our main RB's play at least a half tomorrow to see where we kind of stand. I don't see how Dallas goes into week 1 without a lot of rust :(

So 1 half of football will get Romo ready for a game being played 2 weeks from now? That one half will be the difference in if he's ready or not? Lol ok. Sit all the starters.

According to recent reports, the running game will constitute the main focus of the preseason game vs. Minny. This certainly appears to be justified, considering the fact that McFadden and Dunbar have seen practically no exposure to speak of thus far. Romo has been exposed to a great amount of work in practice, whereas DMF has been on the sidelines throughout most of camp. I would only hope he's tested enough to get a feel for his state of readiness as this team prepares for the onset of the regular season.

It is very fitting that he should get some exposure with it being so overdue at this time. The team can hardly be confident in his conditioning and readiness at this juncture. Testing the running game is undoubtedly the proper emphasis vs. Minnesota. No doubt, Romo will be exposed to his share as well. Let's be aware that there is also a valid need to test further what we have in Vaughan and Showers with the final cuts just around the corner. I feel extremely confident that the staff has a handle on what they'll need to see without any help from us.

Really. Does any team or fans after a week 1 loss say, if we only would have played our starters in that week 3 preseason game two weeks ago longer we might have won today.

The fan in me wants to see Tony and everyone have some long drives and put up a couple td.s, but wont be concerned if they dont play
