ESPN: Jerry Jones: Add four more teams to the playoffs

... And the Cowboys still miss the playoffs, Jerry.

I think it would be reasonable to assume increasing the number of playoff teams is just a way to create a few more games (and their accompanying revenue) that Roger thinks might resonate with the owners, the union, fans, etc. Jerry opining on the subject after missing the playoffs four straight years probably was not the best way to present the idea to football fans.
I'm not terribly concerned about quotes taken out of context sounding silly.

exactly. Why do some people not understand this? And saying it just a couple of days after his team ends up 8-8 and just misses the playoffs. Sometimes its not WHAT you say.....its WHEN you say it.
Anyway, just add this to the long list of embarrassments.

I put on Philly Sports Talk this morning to hear a little about tonight's game...and what's the first thing I hear?
The hosts laughing at Jerry Jones for saying there should be more playoff teams.
"And I don't suppose this has anything to do with the fact that the Cowboys rarely make it anymore", said one host. [group chuckles]

if anything it sounds like Jerry is close to accepting full defeat as GM. I might be 1% minority here...but I think Dallas has new GM in 2-3 years.

There's been plenty of others wanting and expanded playoff. That doesn't make it any better of an idea.

You made my weekend. Even if it doesnt happen, you made my weekend by just suggesting a little hope.
I thank you, sir.

I had to read this twice...
I almost came to tears, then I realized I was tearing up because it wasn't a dream, but that our situation is a nightmare

thanx for the hope

Jerry said he can fix what is wrong with the Cowboys. He also said he thinks he's doing a good job & besides as owner he would have to approve of any player before he'd cut that huge check so hey might as well be the GM!
He's been talking a lot lately defending his role with the team on the football side of things.

The league is also thinking of reseeding teams according to record in the playoffs, potentially taking away the home game from some division winners. I don't like that idea. There should be some reward for winning the division......

I bet the other owners love Jerry. They get some of his revenue and have a clown to laugh at.

The thinking behind that is that a team that wins a crap division at 8-8 should not be hosting a playoff game against a team that is 11-5 or 12-4.

Will be interesting to see if the owners agree with this at Spring meetings.
