CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Pro Bowl cornerback Josh Norman wanted to stay with the Carolina Panthers so badly that he made a last-minute attempt to either sign his franchise tag after it was rescinded or work out a one-year deal for market value.

But Norman said Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman told him it was too late and blamed Norman's former agent, Michael George, for the split.

Panther fans should be angry about this.

You don't want to resign him? Fine.

But to just let him walk and get 0 compensation for it is just horrible.

Had Dallas have done that I would've exploded.

Ego's got involved and Panthers management didn't do what was best for the franchise.

Sounds like Josh shot himself in the foot. Good for him, now he will live in mediocrity and torment as a Foreskin.

I'm pretty sure, *HE* is the reason he didn't re-sign in Carolina. I don't blame their GM from telling him to get off the lawn. He gave him the chance to sign the tag tender and he did not. He felt he should get more and he had the rug pulled out from under him He 100% deserved it. Let him wilt away in Foreskin land never sniffing another Super Bowl.

Damn....once he sees how sorry and horrible Washington, he will be trying to force his way out.

Especially after he gets exposed going up against Beckham and Dez twice, and facing Brown on the schedule.

Not good for him.

Nope.. Agent was to blame by all reports.

Still.. Doesn't excuse the Panthers of throwing a hissy fit and not getting compensation for a player like that.

Horse ****. Josh has the power, not his agent. Josh empowers his agent. It's not the other way around.

They offered him 4/44m.....that is a lowball offer and an insult....but he spent 28 of his 28 years in N Carolina, of course he was hurt and didn't want to leave.....a lot like Murray.....if they have had made a fair offer he would have stayed....

Jerry Richardson doesn't tolerate today's type of athlete. And throwing Hardy away and making the Super Bowl surely emboldened him.

Richardson played in the NFL, and he resents much of what he sees these days.

That's fine. You don't hurt the team though in the process and for them to get no compensation was a selfish ego driven move.

I agree. You trade him for something. That was dumb.

CAR panicked and will pay for this. You at least let him play out the one year franchise tag.

A 3rd round comp pick in 2017 is already valued at a 4th because it will be in the 100s, it is even more devalued since it is a year away.

Now they have 31m in cap space and a giant hole in their secondary.

Normans agent doesn't tell him how to play football and Norman doesn't tell his agent how to get him the biggest contract possible.

Norman, by all accounts, wanted to be a Panther and he fired his agent because of all of this.

Dumb not to trade him. Good luck to Norman for trying to cover Dez,OBJ,and Antonio Brown, they actually have qbs to get them the ball.

Always nice to sign a guy that is so upset he is on your team that he fired his agent and is crying in his beer.
