ESPN MacMahon: Prediction of Pro Bowl Cowboys

You want to de-emphasize the impact of a player's role in an offense? That's absurd. If a player is better, his role will most likely be increased.

Seriously, quit the data-mining. Drop the flowery language. And just admit when you're wrong.

Wrong on what? You think yardage and carries and receptions are all that matters, so take your Larry Johnsons, Michael Turners and Brandon Stokelys, and I'll take my Chris Johnsons, Randy Mosses and Miles Austins, and you'll consider yourself a winner on the trade.

Must you continue to be unpleasant?

Did this guy ever pick two NFC TEs better than Witten? Did I miss it?

I think Gonzalez, Davis and Shiancoe have contributed more to their teams' success this year, and this marks the third time in this thread I've said it.

I continue to think that Witten is a better player, but that he hasn't performed as well. I'm beginning to think that any position other than "Oh my ***, Cowboys Player X is the bestest in the NFL, I WIN THE ARGUMENT I WIN LOLZ" is probably not going to receive a very good reception from some folks here.

But apparently TheOGT has "objective" ways of determining exactly who the best player at every position is that leave nothing up for debate. Nothing can be debated or discussed. He has the magic formula!

You realize you could make a tremendous amount of money as an NFL scout with that magic, completely objective, completely undebatable formula! Add up who has the most yards and BOOM, everyone else in the discussion is automatically wrong!

Magic, I tell you.

rofl, you sir are not thinking right. Witten has better numbers then all of the above. not only that two out of the 3 that you have listed are on teams that are not going to the playoffs. you fail.

Somebody is about to be proven right in this thread and someone is going to be wrong.

Get your popcorn ready.

Yes, this "magical formula" I've found predicts that Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten are the best TEs in the NFC, followed closely by Vernon Davis and Kellen Winslow. Please don't tell anyone of my secret.

But this "objective formula" you've discovered has Gary Barnridge and Spencer Havner as the best TEs in the NFC.

You've really outdone yourself here. Perhaps you could market your "formula" to NFL teams. I'm sure they'll find yours much more predictive of talent than mine.

Here's who should go to the Probowl
Romo
Austin
Witten
Gurode
Davis
Ratliff
Jenkins
Hurd(Special teams)
McBriar

I'll take Celek over Winslow.

Why should you find it amusing. No one asked, so why is it necessary?

But since you asked, Sam Baker and Donald Penn would get my vote this year, even with some injury time out for Baker. There's a slurry of NFC right tackles that have performed better as well.

I'd call it a toss-up between Diehl and Adams, and from what I've seen of Bushrod, he's actually been a serviceable replacement for Jammal Brown, who when he isn't on IR is significantly more consistent than Adams.

Adams is an average-to-above average tackle at this point in his career, which is probably fine. He's no Pro-Bowler. Colombo would be more deserving, had he not been injured as early.
Wow...now that I've come back to this to see how you've dominated the thread with your opinions about TE's as well, I'm glad to see the NFL players and coaches know more about TE's and LT's than you do. Witten and Flo are obviously held in much higher regard by their peers than by you.

Unless of course you'd like to try some sad excuses that it's a popularity contest and somehow Flozell Adams is real popular...hahaha. You were simply wrong on this opinion.

Shinnywalrus now that the results are in you receive a massive FAIL. Your opinions were proven to be dead wrong. I cant believe you posted 4 pages worth of garbage and were still wrong in the end. LOL. Must suck to be so wrong.

Hate to say it, but I'm not so sure Jason Witten's play has been among the top two in the NFC this season. Love the guy to death, but he's been a downright liability in both pass and run blocking on a number of occasions, seems to have lost a good deal of the instinct for necessary first down yardage (something a tight end or possession receiver simply has to have), etc. Still a top tight end that I wouldn't trade for any other in the NFL, but the award should reflect this season's play and productivity.

They went from 16 sacks in 8 games (2.0 SPG) to 9 sacks in 6 games (1.5 SPG). Its a slight improvement, but still I do think its amazing that he's able to put up those numbers with that offensive line.

Where'd you get that. They gave up 37 sacks in the first 8 games, for about 4.6 a game. And they've had 13 the last 7 games (1.9 pg). So that's almost 2.5 times better than they were doing.
